I know it is for those who push for peace and has made signifcant contribution to their country/world. But I did not give it to him and we as a whole, has trusted those who give out such an honor felt that he's either doing or heading in the right diretion towards peace. Eight years under Bush nad we ended up in a ecomonic mess. And we(AMERICAN) have people hating us just because we are Americans. Do The President deserve this award? Yes. We gave Bush eight years...can't we at least give the President his four before we truly pass judgement? And yes, I voted for the change and I am willing to see what the future has in store. We know the past.

This award was given way too early. It makes the award worthless and I think it reinforces the "cult of Personality perception of the President

I do not mind someone achieving this award. However, I feel they must do something to gain it and that it not be all talk. I have not really see him do anything for peace since he obtained office. I have seen his face on TV more than any other President we have had. I have seen him tour teh other countries but I have not actually seen him accomplish anything along the lines of peace yet. I have no doubt he will in the following 4 years but as of yet he has not. i believe that this award should go to someone more deserving of it not someone who is all talk.

I am sorry; what has this man done? This prize is for people who have a lifetime of work not 5 mins. He should refuse the award. He has not brought peace. He even had to sent a Clinton to get back hostages!!!!!

Lulu - I quote from the article itself...In his 1895 will, Alfred Nobel required that the peace prize should go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses."

Obama has done none of these, he merely talked about it. Obama does not qualify for the Noble Peace Prize! While he goes and tries to secure the Olympics in Chicago, he does not bother to meet with a General. He is willing to let our troops die in Afghanistan. Ever since he came into office, WE all have been hurting financially. People have lost their jobs, corruption is coming from his office. Read about ACORN for goodness sakes.

Nobel Peace Prize, Obama has not earned that at all!

Remind me what he actually did to earn this. He talks a good talk but can he walk the walk. He might do good in his four years but he hasn't yet. Wouldn't it be better to award this to someone more deserving. Let's see hard evidence before it is awarded not just a promise. Anyone can make a promise, even me. Does that mean I will be awarded the prize? I don't think so.

Regardless of his missteps; it's the potential he represents, nothing more and nothing less. Blessed are the peacemakers.

Ruth, you are reciting half of a line from The Beatitudes of Matthew from Matthew 5:1-20. Jesus was speaking to the people and teaching them...

...for they will be called children of God - Matthew 5:9

Obama does not believe in Jesus... What potential does he represent when he does not believe...

It is not my place to judge anyone, nor would I like to be judged, because we all are accountable when we stand before our creator and the only way we can stand before God, is by way of Jesus.

Peace prize for the guy who cheered Osama's death.
Peace prize for the guy who blows up weddings and funerals.
Peace prize for the guy who draws red lines in the sand.
Peace prize for the guy who helped kill Qaddafi.
Peace prize for the guy with a kill list.
Peace prize for the guy who looks up people with no trials.
A Peace prize that means nothing at all.
