Shame it was a comment post rather than a measurement with factual pic.
May have been an interesting point as a result of the change in climate mode from #2 (classic model by Jason), to #3 (E. travelling monsoonal roots favouring El Nino conditions). This climate mode change (April 2012), has resulted in Mode#3 operating over the Asia-pacific hot pool and moving the polar hood over to the opposite hemisphere centres ~ over W. African bulge coast with lousy weather in NW Europe (Rainbelt) and depressed monsoonal flow in Americas (USA drought).
Mode#3 has also resulted in the Atlantic hurricane season becoming largely Atlantic ocean only this year (Isaac was a real oddbod).
The fact that the polar hood has been moved toward the America region hemisphere means that Antarctic winter chill would have hit the area E. of the Antarctic peninsula rather hard.
Would be nice to see a factual account.
Also note:
Mode#3 is now breaking out of the asia-Pacific hot pool area and is wrapping round, so a weak el nino buildup is now underway, and the asia pacific hot pool has moved from the East China Sea area to the area around Guam and is heading E.
Wraparound has increased strength of monsoonal input in the Americas. Apparently BIG storm in Argentina area about a fortnight ago, and a lot of rain in Texas last week.
Autumn & winter weather likely to be interesting.
Have a nice day: Ag
