Cato institute is serving it's purpose of promoting disinformation on AGW, fossil fuels, economics, etc. It is a lobby group for those who are fat and happy with the 'status quo' refusing to even consider progress which might interfere with their power.

Richard Rahn is a member in good standing with no science background and obviously a fatal confusion about the EFFECT on climate of AGW, which is to introduce more VARIABILITY and CHANGES to climate worldwide.

OR maybe he is smarter than he seems and working to increase the 'false logic' of the denial camp.

Note: There is an interesting article on Scientific American on the EROI limits for a developed industrial socieity. It quantifies the EROEI at 5 for sustaining a technological economy.

The interesting thing is how many 'green technologies' provide that EROI vs how many fossil fuels are failing it. tinyurl.com/c252r6y

Ethanol from cane sugar and wind power are clear winners and sustainable for the long term. Oil sands and California heavy crude are losers and 'conventional oil' will join them in the next few decades due to lower reserves.
