He was 28, too young. He was not a "Gangsta Rapper", he was actually talented and a good person. He will be missed.

Thanks to the previous 11 posters who came to say they don't know Eyedea (it's called google), care that he died, and that they hate hip hop. Thanks for dropping by his death notice to leave those pearls of wisdom.

Eyedea was an articulate, bright wordsmith that will truly be missed. He was in the wave of hip-hop that changed the norm from rapping about women and cars to that of thought, role playing, experimenting, and reflection.

He was truly a talented artist in many mediums, and it was an honor to be a fan able to watch him grow and change throughout the years through his art. My heart goes out to his family and everyone at RSE.

He was a local kid who made it...

All these old people have no idea who he is. Get on your internet machine and Google it, or don't just post that you don't know. Eyedea was not the kind of rapper you're thinking of.

some people have no tact.
wow, its great that you don't like rap (even though this guy is not your typical MTV garbage). did you really need to post your hate on what basically amounts to this guy's obitituary? If you're a horrible enough of a person to trample on someone's grave like that, I'd love to see what kind of messages would be posted on your obit.
have a nice day.

Perhaps the English language decided to retaliate. I mean, "Eyedea"? Come on people, stop trying to murder proper grammar.
You mean spelling? Since that's nothing to do with grammar...

If you hadn't heard Eyedea, it's not because he was nobody, it's because you are.

real shame - Eyedea was a master wordsmith, and a great artist.

Random Guy: You got me on that one.

wow: While I agree that some of the people here are being rather insensitive, myself included (though I was commenting on rap in general, not specifically this young man), you are painting with a vey broad brush yourself.

I'll never forget the time a student I went to Augsburg with was doing a music project on him, and he actually came to class and helped her do her presentation. The guy was one of the nicest people you could ever run into. For those saying they have never heard of Eyedea, he was in fact pretty big time. I am actually shocked none of you have heard of him before. He had definitely seen his popularity rise far beyond Minnesota. It's a sad day for Minnesota Music right now.

Also, I didn't know that having an actual creative name would attract d bags like bob x ray. Get a life.

To Mike's family, I am so sorry for your loss. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting him, he was truly a gifted young man.

Of all the postings listed, mine was the one that offended you the most? Like I said earlier, I don't know this guy, but by all accounts he was a nice person. My problem is with the fact that today's kids are going to fail their spelling tests because they think girl is spelled "gurl". Nothing to do with Micheal as a person, so I appologize if that is how you read it.

I am guessing that you'd have said the same thing about Johnny Cash in 1955, and Bob Dylan in 1965, Jimi Hendrix in 1975, and the The Clash in 1985. I'm guessing that you don't try new forms of music until the rest of your peers tell you it is OK. That's fine. It's your call. But why post that "who the he|| is he?" stuff here?

So much hate based on an ill fitting label.

There is a whole genre of hip hop that has nothing to do with disrespecting women, selling and consuming illicit drugs, chasing fame and fortune, or violence.
Mr. Larson was an artist who used words to convey his philosophies on life. Introspective rather than over the top showmanship in a disgusting display of excess.
Born in another time he would have been called a poet, or a bard. Titles that I believe fit much better than 'rapper'.
Lastly It's shameful that some of you have forgotten what you mother taught you when You were young. "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
At the very least please have some respect for his family and friends. As was mentioned above; he was someone's son, someone's brother, someone's role model. There is no reason to trample his grave and the feelings of those that loved him.

And appoligize is spelled apologize. You should really be up on your spelling, before you correct others, no?
