Angus is the best not because of technical skill, but because of the melodic and hooky nature of those "big dumb riffs." He is the best blues guitarists EVER and sticks to his guns. He plays the blues because he LIKES the blues, and would RATHER play the blues like a real musician than shred. Shredders are lame. No soul. It's boring.
WOW, i completely disagree, stevie ray vaghn is without a doubt the best blues guitarist EVER!

1 Malcolm Young
(underestimated, brilliant riff writer)
2 Randy Rhoads
(great sound, combined metal with classic)
3 Steve Vai
(can create every sound on his guitar)
4 Eddie Van Halen
(When you see him playin', it looks so easy but.
5 John Petrucci
(Is brilliant in what he's doing)
Sorry for the Angus fans.
I am a fan too, but not for his playing but for the overall entertainment.

You honestly think that Angus Young is a blues guitarist? Have you ever listened to an ACDC song?
It's almost blasphemy that you say this. When I think of blues a few names come to mind like: BB King, Robert Johnson, Eric Clapton, just to name a few. When you speak about music, I suggest you look up your facts first, you foolish, foolish person.

PS I wish everybody would stop trying to emulate these guitar players like Angus and Van Halen, stealing THEIR style and moves, and just find their own style. That said, like a REAL guitarist, Im gonna stop talking about the best and just go practice so that one day you'll all be talking about ME.

anyone who has angus young, santana, and jimi hendrix in the top five are ignorant and oblivious to the level of play modern guitarists are reaching today. Hendrix, santana and young do not even come CLOSE to the skill level and virtuosity of such guitarists as John Petrucci or Steve Vai. Some AC DC or Hendrix fan boy might try to argue with me, do it because I will unleash an hurricane of facts and examples for every argument you make. Especially, "oh shredders dont have emotion". I can show you so many slow emotional solos by countless shredders. And guess what, they venture outside of the blues scale!

How old are all you people? You guys are listing off guitarists I listened to when I was a little boy, please actually LOOK for good guitarists out there. Steve Vai anyone? Oh,wait is all he does is play fast right? Fuck no. He has the "emotion" and stage presence of Jimi Hendrix and the technique of any proficient shredder. His compositions far more thought out, creative, complex, and innovative than all of these "best guitarists" you people listed. " Complexity isn't everything!" oh wait, he has beautiful minimalistic songs as well. So why isn't he on the top 5 of ANY "best guitarist" list ever made when has everything? Because in this time and age, clearly, good musicians suck. Did you people know that there other scales other than the pentatonic scale?

I will not list guitarists who have some gay tehnical skills. The point is:The best guitarist is one who will touch your heart and imagination and not who play on higher level or something.Steve Vai is god for sure and John Petrucci (i listed them of course),but Santana is in top 5 because he can touch your heart.Just listen Europe and Samba pa ti you will be in heaven. The best guitarist is one who is simple and emotional i mean simply the best lol.Angus Young deserves to be in top 10 because of his uniform lol,Highway to hell,Back in black,Thunderstruck,You shook me all night long,TNT,Let there be rock(he is on cocain in that video lol) and many more songs...Angus Young is GOD dont bullshit Shred you are gay!!!

You can go ask Petrucci and Vai about Hendrix, and see the kind of respect they have for him. If you go to Vai and say to him that he's better than Hendrix, guess what will happen? He'll laugh his ass off, trust me. Guitarists have a great amount of respect and consideration for this revolutionary genius. Words aren't accurate enough to describe Hendrix. If you think different, then you should do some...research.
