At the time Agent Orange was spread all over Vietnam, during the War in Vietnam, it is probably the case that the long term adverse affects of the same were either unknown or vastly underestimated. The spraying, at the time, probably, decreased American combat casualties significantly. However, this same spraying caused long term wide spread and extremely deleterious health effects on Vietnam Veterans. The same, was probably, the case for our enemies the North Vietnamese Communists and the Viet Cong. However, we now know that Agent Orange acted as an extremely deleterious poison on those whom it had contact. Thus, although probably innocently used at the time, the same amounted to a massive poisoning of our enemies also which would, probably, be against the Geneva Conventions on Warfare . It would NOT be a War Crime, however, as there, in all likelihood was NO INTENTION to poison our enemies with Agent Orange. But, efforts to address, ameliorate, and treat the long term adverse effects of Agent Orange on the soldiers of our former enemy should definitely be addressed and undertaken because, again, Agent Orange poisoned our NVA and VC enemies, contrary to the Geneva Conventions on Warfare (although it was unintentional).. I served with the U.S. Army; 4th I.D.;2/8th Inf.;RVN 1969-1970.
