I have been living in Vietnam for 16 years. As one of the first Americans here after the war, I had the opportunity to see many good things happen, including many US veterans suffering from DSS returning. They look like frightened animals in a cage when they get off the plane but after a few days, you see them throw off the ghosts of the past and begin to heal. Its a wonderful sight.
One great line from the TV show MASH sticks in my head: "There should be a rule that you have to get to know someone and become friends before you can shoot at them..."
