In fact, the two were pretty much the same: herky-jerky, on-off-on-off aggression and being duped every step of the way by the North Vietnamese: remember the debate over the shape of the conference table? And who would sit where at the conference table? The North Vietnamese played LBJ like a fiddle. Peace process? I don't care if Nixon takes the heat he deserves for Vietnam: I used to hate the guy! But Nixon couldn't possibly "undermine Johnson's peace process" because Johnson had no peace process. LBJ demonstrated over and over that he was effective at neither peace in Southeast Asia nor war in Southeast Asia. I mean, come on man...
