Again the media paints Nixon as a paranoid leader. One thing you have to say about Nixon as he tried to defend the country (and yes, perhaps his political standing) from home-grown terrorists (including that 'guy from Obama's neighborhood" William Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dorn): he as not going to give his political enemies (yes he had real-live 'enemies' deserving of being on a list) the chance to claim he didn't "connect the dots" as they did decades later to George Bush.

The media isn't 'painting' Nixon as a paranoid leader. His paranoia is evident from taped oval office conversations he recorded, for God's sake!!

...another thing -'Professors are the enemy'? What's up with that? If that doesn't smack of paranoia, I don't know what does.

When certain people or institutions REALLY are trying to harm you it is not paranoia to recognize it. It was no secret to anyone living through those days the disdain the so-called intelligensia and the press had for Nixon. " Not our kind you know". He would never bow down to those jackels to his dying day and they still have not forgiven him for that. The man has been dead for well over ten years and still the attacks continue. They just make themselves look small and petty.

That's kind of like saying 'that auto-repair guy really screwed me over, therefore auto-repair guys are my enemy. Don't you think it's a bit over the top to make a blanket statement about professors and media all being enemies? You might call that paranoid, or just a bit 'off'.
