Not cool, see my post to misty day. I don't like police bashing and this is equally distasteful.

And yet you assume.... Do you want another rock to throw at the glass house. The rest of your fluff is irrelevant to the case at hand. You don't trust the GBI, next you won't trust the DA and so on until you get something you want to hear.
I never ASSUMED, I said my gut...my fluff was to provide my veiwpoint, life experience and such.
I did not throw anything....I simply said that I do not trust the GBI and even stated that it was from past experience (Euharlee specific), but since that person(s) is no longer an elected official, I do not think it fair to mention names.
Now I did earlier state that the DA should recuse herself, but that is just on a legal issue since her husband is on the city of Euharlee's payroll (grounds for appeal and all).
As far as what I want to hear, that's easy, "the 17 yr old is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery"...

She is Euharlee's version of Barney Fife....maybe we should rename her Barnette Fife. I also read in one of the daily newspapers that she had several "smears' on her record over the past 10 years. She was just trying prove she is a tough woman....or she is stupid.....both I suppose. I have had law enforcement family members and I can honestly say....they too have done stupid stuff...but never shot a kid!

Obviously someone who knows more about her than we do. Whatever was in her past was either cleared or was not severe enough to prevent employment.

I do not know what kind of record would prevent someone from obtaining employment from Euharlee PD but it did keep one officer from being employed, and I imagine for things less severe as what the media says about her.

What kind of record? Do you even know how to read? If I remember the article it said that she was written up once for conduct unbecoming....that is a catch all and could be anything, did you check to see what it was for or are you assuming? I'm sure Euharlee checked it before hiring her and found the allegation BS or trivial.

The second issue from her past record was what?? investigated for shooting at the suspect of a home invasion... really?!?! Might be some justification there don't you think? Did you look up the report for that one as well??

The third, leaving during a shift because of leave being denied.....wow, huge offense there....do you know the specifics of that as well?? You all should have your own 900 line and charge for your brilliant deductions!

I know all of you are ignoring her award for heroism from the State of Georgia years ago...you guys are googling everything else.... no wait that paints a positive light on the officer

Unless your viewpoint is from personally walking up to a vehicle to speak with a driver at night on a deserted road because they broke the law, or going to knock on someones door because there is a wanted subject living there that needs to go to jail and you don't know what's waiting for you behind the door or sitting at the wheel than you have no viewpoint. You are like a football commentator that has never played nor has any idea how to play the sport and trying to give your expert analysis.

If you're scared of citizens then don't be a cop. Incidents like this are the result of treating every civilian as a possible combatant. There is no excuse for that.

Aldo, as much as I hate what happened, I'm gonna disagree. Let the cops keep their guns, but make them entirely accountable for using them. Believe it or not, there are good cops out there.

If a cop kills someone, I don't think they should get a paid vacation. Then again, you can't just throw a cop in jail either, it could be a death sentence for that officer.(Some shootings are justified, but not this one) Perhaps house arrest or something of that nature while an investigation is held.
Let them carry guns, but make sure the officer is competent enough to know when to use it, or more importantly when NOT to use it.

I don't think they need guns at all. It's too intimidating, just seeing cops out walking around with a gun on is scary. Why do they need them? Same thing with those tazer guns. They don't need them either. The police are supposed to help us, not hurt us!

To be fair, many Americans are armed, peace officers should be extended that as well. However, incidents like this need to be stopped and the officers in question held accountable. There are many more good cops out there than bad. When an officer gets justified for wrongful death it makes all cops look bad and that's not fair to them. It strains public trust making their jobs harder, and possibly leading to more cases like this. The officers with bad judgement need to go immediately. It also makes them believe they can do whatever they want without fear of reprimand, and that is terrifying.

If they don't have guns, they can't shoot at our kids! Cops should help people not hurt them ever. If they can't help a person, thenThey should just leave! They are public servants and we pay their salaries. They should do whatever we want them to do and we should never be afraid of them. How can that be if I know they can shoot me? I need them to help me when my kids my kids won't mind or if I'm in a wreck. They don't need no guns for none of that!

We know what will happen. Within 60 days, the GBI will release a report that this was a "unavoidable tragedy" and that the officer acted "appropriately," "according to training" and "was in fear for her life." And oh by the way, she saw a gun but we couldn't find it. Not sure why. But it was definitely a gun. Then a lawsuit and an out of court settlement with a non-disclosure clause for the family and we rinse and repeat.

Cops shoot more innocent people than cops are shot. Until their training is fixed and their attitudes are changed, many more innocent people will die at the hands of a militarized police. But don't worry, all of those peoples' deaths will be ruled justified. And lots of policemen and women will "go home safe."
