This week in unplanned non-obsolescence: Nintendo's Wii U, released to great fanfare just last fall, was outsold last quarter by Nintendo's original Wii, which was released to great fanfare in the fall of, um, 2006.

Seriously, we need actual gamers to start writing these articles. The reason the old one outsells the new one is exceedingly simple. Us Nintendo fans love old games, classics are what others call them, just because something is no longer "in" doesn't mean we don't want to play it anymore. Nintendo makes bank on offering classic NES and Gameboy titles in the eShop, for the 3DS and Wii. Gameboy games are being bought and sold daily, not to collectors but to game fans. Pre-owned 3DS and DS titles sell for almost the "new" cost in game stores. Sales of the most modern games is no reflection on a company's products, it's the resale or value on their out dated products that paints a clear picture of why a company is still strong in spite of all the doom and gloom from idiotic wannabe geeks.

I just downloaded Myst for my 3DS, a price drop because the interface for it sucks, but it's a great game, and playing through it again is still awesome.

Of course none of this matters, Nintendo is awesome because ... Megaman.
