Venezuela plane crash kills 46

Searchers spotted the wreckage of a plane carrying 46 people in the mountains of western Venezuela Friday. Firefighter Sgt. Jhonny Paz said officials believe there are no survivors and are sending a helicopter back to the zone after a refueling stop.

"The impact was direct. The aircraft is practically pulverized," he told the Venezuelan television station Globovision.

Apparently, Chavez had refused to sell them fuel. They went down due to an empty tank.

This was one of those french Built ATR-42 aircraft like the ones American Airlines used to use to fly to feed the Chicago Hub until one went down in winter in a frozen farm field because the de-icing boots didn't de-ice. Went down high in the mountains in Venezuela, musta been too cold there too.

I have flown Avanca in the past. Oil was running down the side of the engine. No flaps were used in takeoff and landings, once the gear was up the pilot dcalled out Bingo numbers, and I couldn't figure out the mystery meat in my sandwich on my way to Caracas. There were military Police checks every ten miles on the highways. Hugo Chavez lived right behind my hotel. Orejos were good.
