1 Chavez doesn't have that kind of power in Venezuela. In fact in the last referendum that he supported the people voted it down, because they didn't want him to have too much power and didn't want to abolish term limits. If anything our government's confrontational attitude towards Venezuela is to blame for increasing anti-American sentiment there. Instead of chastizing Venezuela we should be praising them, since it is still a democracy. Let's show the world that our commitment to democracy is real and not code for commitment to democracies that choose to adopt policies sympathetic to American business interests. Chavez uses anti-American sentiment to rally supporters. If America wasn't getting confrontational with Venezuela that wouldn't work, and Chavez might actually lose popularity. |

"There's a reason Bush almost never appears before members of the general public:
They really don't like him. Bush was greeted with loud boos when he came to deliver the traditional first pitch. It was a rare moment for Bush, who avoids public expressions of disagreement by appearing almost exclusively before carefully selected audiences." -- Dan Froomkin A Soldier’s View of the Iraq War March 5, 2004 I am a cavalry scout in the United States Army. I am stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. We returned home Tuesday and I would like to comment on this war from a specialized soldier’s eyes. I honestly think the president lied to all of us. After seeing first hand what was in most parts of Iraq, my whole company could not fathom a threat of any means. I love America, and will defend her when called upon, but in this case there was not a real threat. By the way, the THANKSGIVING PHOTO-OP at the airport was only open to pro-Bush soldiers. We were screened unknowingly about four days before he showed up in secret. We didn’t know he was coming, but looking back, all the questions we were asked were designed to weed out the antiwar soldiers.. Notice the similarities… Happy Passover???? |

Well then why all the dicking around then? could easily flatten the whole place. |
