No monkeys leave the research centers here. They are ground up, pulverized, and fed to the other monkeys.

"While about 1,000 research chimps live in the United States — down from 1,500 in 1997 — a landmark report from the influential Institute of Medicine (IOM) last December labeled nearly all chimpanzee research as scientifically unjustified.

The final National Institutes of Health-funded experiments at Bioqual tested vaccines against norovirus and respiratory syncytial virus, two studies called out in the IOM report as unnecessary. Chimps are no longer needed for such work, the report said.

Drug companies, which also fund some chimp research, are also backing away from the practice as lower-cost, higher-tech alternatives emerge."

those poor mistreated and abused research animals should be retired to sanctuarys today. they are the victims of untold suffering and abuse. behind closed doors. obviously something needs to change here.

Not only that, but it is a danger to the public. They have had several occasions in New Iberia AND Covington of diseased chimpanzee's escaping. It's hard for me to even think about what they are doing to them! Giving them disease and injecting them with god knows what. Not to mention the other animals around the world that are being tortured for ridiculous reasons like MAKEUP.

RAGE is coming, not because a few chimps wear lipstick, but because humans need to misuse and cage animals to justify their other disgusting inclinations, like killing 57 Million of their own babies for convenience. Get over half the human population hooked on drugs to counteract the affects of other drugs, then they can justify "research grants" to maintain their Liberal constituencies.
