From the article:
"For example, if the definition of marriage is no longer based on procreation and the ability to procreate naturally, then what is the purpose in prohibiting marriage between persons of close kinship," Oakley wrote.

Marriage has NEVER been based on one's NATURAL ability to procreate otherwise we would DENY the right to marry to women past the childbearing years and we DON'T......nor do we EXPECT that a couple seeking the right to marry even WANTS children....so, this argument is totally IRRELEVANT to one's right to marry!!!

And by the way, this argument has already FAILED and will fail here as well!!!

Oakley's argument about procreation is what is impotent, or something else of his?

Gay activists always expand their attack on American values, even human values learned over thousands of years. The extreme minority within an extreme minority has recently come out with various rationalizations for incest and reduced ages of consent. This is like the abortion industry starting to embrace euthanasia to take the focus off their foul activities.

People need to regain control of the courts, where the sodomite approach to acclimating the general populace to their proactive and predatory behaviors has denied citizenry of protecting their basic rights as citizens and protecting their communities.

There really are no "gay activists". And as far as American values they remain consistent. American values involve themselves with a solid work ethic and honesty. Aspects those that happen to be gay often instill in their own lives and from what I've seen more so than us :straight" people.

You're lost friend with your hate. I too held a blind dislike for gays until I realized they're just fellow Americans. You wasted your time posting your dislike in this thread for one.

Live your life and let others live theirs. It concerns you not whom they're attracted to no different than if you're to waste your time worrying about if I like blondes or brunettes.(By the way - it's brunettes).

But seriously - have a good life but don't get twisted if someone is gay or not. God loves us all.

The way you can tell they're not entirely sane is that EVERYONE who does not support their views is "the enemy." Literally ... everyone. The courts are the enemy, the judges are the enemy, the president is the enemy, the attorney-general is the enemy; they see every last soul whom they cannot *literally force* to do their bidding as the enemy.

They really, truly,*literally*(as Dan, above, points out) are CONSUMED by a hatred which is no good for their health. It's really, really damaging to a person's health.

Does he "really" think the people of Virginia are into incest? What a nut.

This neutral good neighbor next door routine doesn't wash, when in America hundreds of thousands of people have died and are dying horrible, suffering deaths because of homosexual disease brought here and proudly spread by the more unintelligent criminal types amongst their ranks at the behest of their leadership and the sociopath nature of homosexuality. Do you understand? Millions of people have suffered and died internationally because of these perverts.

Bullshit.

Diseases hit everyone moron. "Neutral good neighbor"?? If you were my neighbor I'd make you move brother. LOL!!

I learned in life it's best to live and let live in many cases. Worrying about if someone is gay or not is nothing but a waste of time. I've only met a few gays in my life but they serve no harm and many have led more productive lives than me and probably you.

Worry about yourself friend, not others whom truly harm no one.

Jobs
As a small businessman, Matt has long been a job producer in the local economy for years. As delegate, he will apply the same common sense principles that he has learned in the private sector. He has firsthand knowledge of how stifling government regulations inhibit job creation. While in Richmond, Matt will work tirelessly to remove government obstacles to economic growth and will strive to ensure that job producers are rewarded and welcomed in our commonwealth.
Abortion
Matt believes that there is no more sacred right guaranteed to our citizens than the right to life. Beling raised with a mentally challenged uncle, Matt is all the more aware that ALL life is precious. In the House of Delegates, Matt will be a vigorous defender of the unborn. Throughout his time in office, Matt will author, support, and vote for any legislation that will protect life. Recognizing also that the value of life must be first and foremost in our society, Matt also believes that capital punishment is appropriate for those who take life.
Taxes and Spending
Matt understands that there is nothing that strangles economic development like excessive taxation. He is a firm believer that the commonwealth taxes too heavily and spends too wastefully. As delegate, "he will cut the fat" from Virginia's budget and fight against tax increases. Matt will be an ardent spokesman for Virginia's families and businesses that are over-taxed while also fighting to ensure that tax dollars are spent in the most effective manner.
Marriage
Matt is firmly opposed to any attempt to undermine traditional marriage through recognition of same sex couples. As delegate, he will oppose any effort on the state or local level to allow for marriage, partnership benefits, or recognition. Matt will work diligently to ensure that what has happened in New York and elsewhere will never happen in Virginia. He will be a constant and staunch ally of traditional marriage and the belief that such unions and recognition should only ever be between one man and one woman.
These are the ones we need to get out of office. His attitude discriminates and seek to oppress those who do not believe as he does. Forcing his religious beliefs on us through legislation/rules/regulations. He is entitled to believe as he wishes but he is not entitled to force those beliefs on others. As long as Fariss holds a position of power Virginia will never be free. Here in Virginia it is not "liberty & justice for all" it is "liberty & justice for some."

What part of Virginia?

The nuttiness is thinking that a court could not find rational governmental interest to bar incest or marriage between relatives.

As for certain Virginians....

TOTAL BS..........hundreds of thousands of people die from diseases regardless of their sexual orientation, even HIV/AIDS is NOT discriminatory, but you DON'T care about the REAL reason....you just want to spread your hate and bigotry to justify your position......well, so be it......but it is idiots like you and Fred Phelps that help people realize just how pathetic you folks really are!!!

I've asked this before and will keep asking.

If the conservatives and the religious right wanted to keep marriage a States Rights Issue why did they then make it a Federal one by passing DOMA?

Mr Oakley says the Federal Judge usurped the States Authority. He did no such thing. Perhaps Mr Oakley needs to read the Constitution.

Under the Heading "The States" we have:
ARTICLE IV

SECTION 1.

Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And the Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof.

SECTION 2.

The citizens of each state shall be entitled to all privileges and immunities of citizens in the several states.

A person charged in any state with treason, felony, or other crime, who shall flee from justice, and be found in another state, shall on demand of the executive authority of the state from which he fled, be delivered up, to be removed to the state having jurisdiction of the crime.

No person held to service or labor in one state, under the laws thereof, escaping into another, shall, in consequence of any law or regulation therein, be discharged from such service or labor, but shall be delivered up on claim of the party to whom such service or labor may be due.

SECTION 3.

New states may be admitted by the Congress into this union; but no new states shall be formed or erected within the jurisdiction of any other state; nor any state be formed by the junction of two or more states, or parts of states, without the consent of the legislatures of the states concerned as well as of the Congress.

The Congress shall have power to dispose of and make all needful rules and regulations respecting the territory or other property belonging to the United States; and nothing in this Constitution shall be so construed as to prejudice any claims of the United States, or of any particular state.

SECTION 4.

The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.

(Notice marriage isn't listed as a States Right)

Then we have the Supremacy Clause:
This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

(I guess Mr. Oakley didn't graduate from Cornell Law)
