I believe the federal response to both the BP spill and Texas wildfires was appropriate. The only reason there's controversy about either case is because the right demands more no matter what this President does.
So, no - there was no racism in the federal response to either disaster. There's not even a case to be made that there was. Obama's FEMA has been responsive and effective, just like FEMA under Clinton and dramatically unlike FEMA under Bush.
It's a result of philosophical differences. Republicans disdain government and want to "drown it in a bathtub," so when they're in charge the government is feeble and ineffective, leaving citizens without help when they need it. Democrats believe the government has a vital role to play in the success of our nation, so when they're in charge, government agencies are more responsive and effective to the nation's needs.
Texas did not get a disaster declaration even tho the scope of the problem was beyond 0 normal measure where such a declaration is given. But you say no problem, just people dissing Obama. And the system was responsive in your opinion.

This is going no where, you are throwing out excuses instead of answering the question.

More of an observation with my opinion. You don't believe that we have lost generations of people who prefer to take than to contribute?

Do you disagree that if the trends of welfare continues that the system will collapse under the strain when more is paid out than is collected?

That isn't anywhere close to happening, dumbazz.

PS: the TRENDS of percentage paid out in welfare ARE GOING DOWN.

Wipe your chin, dear.

I'd bet you but then we know your word is worthless.

That's simply not true. Obama certainly did sign a disaster declaration for Texas.

And Texas received federal aid along, even before the disaster declaration. It's just that Rick Perry wanted more.

These aren't excuses - these are the facts of history. I'm not sure why you don't want to acknowledge them, but don't accuse me of not answering questions when I have.

No, I don't believe that. There is certainly abuse within the welfare system, but it does more good by far.

And high usage right now isn't a trend. It is the response to the recession. Whenever the economy tanks and people lose jobs, more families qualify for federal benefits automatically. And after a peak in 2010, US spending on welfare benefits has declined. I don't see any evidence that we're anywhere near paying out more than is collected.

You said, "Texas did not get a disaster declaration." But your link says they did.

And you said, "the scope of the problem was beyond normal measure where such a declaration is given." But the government provided $23 million in aid while only giving $3 million in aid for the OK wildfires. And when the fires reached the point where FEMA's calculation that federal disaster declarations are appropriate, they declared the disaster.

The Obama administration has responded appropriately to national disasters. And there is no indication that race has ever played a part in any of those decisions. I'm not sure what your point is.

The numbers for 2012 have not been published that I have found. The estimates depend on who estimating, some show higher, some show same and some lower.

I am pessimistic in the economy, and suspicious of guesstimates by either party. We have the official unemployment rate, which seems to differ from the actual. So pardon me if I reserve judgement of an estimated downward trend.

You believe a pile of leftist propaganda and bullshit. It's a function of your inability to hold our President accountable for ANY of his actions (or inactions) and your willingness to believe anything and everything the MSM tells you, no matter how big the cover-up, about him.
This is what happens when you marinate your brain in bullshit by listening to AM radio and watching Fox "news" all day - you believe things that there's no evidence for and claim that the lack of evidence is due to a big cover-up.

The real-world facts don't support your beliefs. You believe them because of your visceral hatred of the President and because you WANT to believe them.

The use of public benefits currently is following the pattern set during every economic downturn - they are lagging indicators that climb after the recession hits and decline after the recession ends. There is no reason believe this time is different.

And for the record, the only thing I listen to on the radio is about a half hour of the WSJ report in the morning; and the only "news" I watch is the local weather report.

So, as always, you are full of shyte.

Well at least you know where you're going wrong. The first step to recovery is realizing how incredibly wrong you are. Good for you Danny Boy! I still hold out hope that you will see the light and stop trying to destroy American freedom in favor of iron fisted socialist control.
