Not failed so much as abandoned by Obama.
The same will happen in Afghanistan, even sooner, since Obama is sending reinforcements to the Taliban.
So how much more money and military casualties is Afghanistan, and for that matter Iraq, worth. Are you willing to pay higher taxes (or just increase the national debt) and enlist ...
Please consider a quote "There is no instance of a nation benefiting from prolonged warfare" I doubt you read what the man I quoted said about war, but West Point Grads do.

Nobody is suggesting war. What are clearly needed are peace-keeping forces, unless the objective is to have the Taliban enslave the entire Middle East.

How much American-politicians get money from military-industry?????
American-politicians should be ashamed of themselves!

[7-1]
There was Iran-Iraqi war (1980-).

There had been wars even before our America got independence from British.
There have been Russia, Turky, Syria, Iran, Iraq.

So, the U.S. must not involve in these wars!

First of all, the U.S. involved in middle-east, because of Soviet-Unions' invasion in Afghanistan!!!
The U.S. want to protect oil-countries from Soviet-Union's invasion!!!
And, Soviet-Union was already destroyed!!!

So, the U.S. must withdraw American-Forces from middle-east!!!

This is what 4800 ignorant jerks died for, not forgetting the 100000 maimed, braindead and emasculated. Let's not also forget the suicides from the shame of murdering innocents for cash.
Luckily, Americans are still too stupid to realize that there were no Al Quaeda in Iraq before they invaded, or to what extent they have destroyed a sovereign nation.
Stinking out the world is too awful to begin to admit or understand.

OK, should those 'peace-keeping' forces be from the USA, the UK, Russia just who. What would be the rules of engagement if they are attacked, conventionally or using 'terrorist' tactics. What is to be done to captured terrorists. Which of the waring factions should the peace-keepers favor?(There are three main factions in the area of Iraq, perhaps there ought to be three nations ... The idea was floated to the Bush Administration and rejected, will Obama make the same mistake and support the one faction?) What instructions would you give the peace-keepers and how long should they stay to keep the waring factions apart?
What did the ancients do about insurgency and irregular warfare...

I heard on the radio that IRAN was sending some its famous RED GUARD to help protect Bagdad.

Interesting turn of events, eh?

It's not as if this hasn't been done before.
Iraq has asked for help. We should try as best we can to provide the help they need.

If that is true this is becoming an OH feces problem, Iran wants to dominate the middle east and that threatens both the Arabs and Israel. I don't even want to think about 'those' that depend on middle east hydrocarbons. The USA may get involved again like it or not ... dam!!!!
On the lighter side, I will not be awakened by the Abrams practicing night firing ...

I agree, but which faction do we provide help ... Suni, Shites or Kurds?(all nominally Iraq citizens) We put in a Shite government after the conquest and the 'surge' paid of the Suni to be to stop an insurgency which they did until the cash stopped. If we favor one the other will be, putting it mildly, unhappy. How long should be be prepared to stay to prevent what is kinda a civil war (a very uncivil one at that).
On the fiscal side where is the money going to come from. Congress will not appropriate funds to support an Obama decision and both Congress and the people will be pissed if the money raises the national debt.

where will fearless leeder get the assets ?
he stripped the military bare of
.
A10 support
helicopter gunships
cruise missiles
whole Army brigades
.
he needs to send his new rainbow units in there since most other units drained manpower because the regulars won't re-enlist.

Has the lack of American leadership done us any good so far? Russia is on the march. China is set to expand, an AQ army is on the march, Iran is watching, the Taliban is watching. I agree with securing the border but we can't afford to be isolationist!

You say nothing about France suckering Obama into a war in Libya which was not approved by Congress so they(France) could get new oil deals? If OIF was a war for oil why were we still paying market price?

The current conflict is boiling down to a struggle between two forces at enmity with the USA:[1] an al-Qaeda operated terrorist state (ISIS) and [2] a nuclear-armed Iran determined to make Iraq its vassal state.
