Feb 10, 2013 Full story: The Washington Post 70

Sen. John McCain said Sunday that he is willing to consider supporting new tax revenue as part of a plan to avert $85 billion in looming budget cuts, as the White House pushed back against Republican lawmakers who say President Obama is solely responsible for the spending reductions.

Real stewards of the purse would have increased Taxes to pay for those wars and republican initiatives that crushed America's finances. Now they would rather dismantle Meals on Wheels for seniors to protect Bush Tax Corporate Welfare

McCain as usual is a day late and a dollar short.

Bush has been out of office for more than 4 years.

Obama continues those initiatives.... he owns them, along with that boondoggle health care tax.

True, however, the lingering effects of the tax policies implemented by Bush continue to reek havoc on America's Finances, those policies protected by the House and Senate Republicans.

I seem to recall that during the first 2 years of Obama's administration that the Democrats had the majority in both houses.

Bush and the Republicans may have implemented the policies but the Democrats, including Obama, picked up that yoke, wore it proudly and trotted right on down the road with it.

Face it. Neither party has had the best interests of the country at heart for more than 20 years. If one isn't screwing us over, the other is. The only reason a politician goes to Washington is to serve his / her own interests.

No, what is typical is the sad fact that you can't reconcile that both parties are responsible for our present situation.

You are one of those black and white people in a world with 256 shades of gray.

You sound like the Republicans are the only ones to use a filibuster. Let me remind you that Obama is on record as supporting a filibuster of any bill he deems worthy.

"To be clear: Barack will support a filibuster of any bill that includes retroactive immunity for telecommunications companies."

All a matter of degree, isn't it? For you, degree only matters when it is against you.

So typical.

Right after the 2012 Election, in a desperate attempt to find something to grasp onto to stop their decline into that pit of despair these tea-bagging fools touted holding onto the House as the means to prevent President Obama’s mandate from producing the results that he wants…
But 4 months after the election these same republicans gave Obama everything he wanted… and are on the verge of doing it again…

The tax revenue is down because the idiots in Washington and the state capitals make it impossible for small business to thrive. They regulate, tax and sit on their rearends and reap the profits of those trying to make a living. None of those making the rules probably have never worked a day in theirnlives. I am sick and tired of seeing people in line using EBT KARDS to buy things that are not needed for ordinary survival, selling their funds at a cut rate to to get money, and people who are just working the system. All these political idiots think about is how they can buy votes with the taxpayers money!!!!!!

Yeahhhh, I'd like to agree. But you stole your neighbors acorns for yourselves. While you blame the rich and the Repubs for everything. Its like you are at a party and crying about the other side with your hands in the pockets of an another who lives a life to survive also. That person has no one to support him. Even is getting poorer even though not destitute but heading in that direction. Your progressive agendas that he does not disagree with but has questions on how far they should go, has neutered him in a victimized culture. In fact to all degrees we all have flaws and the flaws are a expanding as guilt is used to keep the movement going. You "that's not very Christian of you" the general population so much now and watered down beliefs and levels of self discipline that we will not recover until there is an event or mass suffering or just a collapse of a government that has repeated what others have done in history. FYI..collapses occur when enough people do not care. And we have a whole bunch that don't. The people in pain are all around you. You just keep thinking spending massive resources will end a culture based on doing anything you want and let others pay for the results will continue forever. Just a push of a button or two by the elitists in the bankers division. to shut down the monthly the checks/cards would cause a disaster within a few weeks if not sooner. That is how advanced this is now. So to you Obama is a hero, to others an anti christ wannabe. And there have been plenty of them.

We could cut every budget by 30% and still not balance the budget. WE ALSO NEED INCREASED REVENUE.

And the democrats wont allow social spending to be cut and GOP wont allow military and law enforcement budgets to be cut.....

As long as those two money drains dont get cut nothing will change.

Obama has the GOPasaurs over a barrel once again. In order to protect the bloated military spending the GOPasaurs will have to agree to more tax inceases for the wealthy.

FINALLY the Dems have figured out how deal with a Republican controlled House!

it must be the expansion of wars and bases and everything else in foreign policy that fooled us for the last six years.

I'm guessing Congress may actually get some work done, if we could keep John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Darrel Issa away from in front of television cameras.....
