Congress sees immigration overhaul this year; Obama will make pitch in Las Vegas speech

Jan 27, 2013 Full story: Reno Gazette-Journal 487

Republican and Democratic lawmakers were cautiously optimistic Sunday that a long-sought overhaul of the nation's immigration system that includes a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million illegal immigrants currently in the country will clear Congress this year, the result of changes in the political landscape shown in November's election.

Menendez denies prostitution claims after FBI raid on donor's office

Sen. Bob Menendez on Wednesday denied allegations that he saw prostitutes while on trips with a campaign donor to the Dominican Republic, responding to new questions after an overnight FBI raid on the donor's South Florida office.
Fox News confirms that FBI agents removed items from Dr. Salomon Melgen's West Palm Beach, Fla., business during a raid that lasted several hours. Agents could be seen rifling through items in the office and carrying boxes out of the building.
It is unclear whether the raid is related to anything involving Menendez. But Menendez' office issued a statement denying the prostitution claims, while acknowledging he flew on Melgen's plane on three occasions.

Newt Gingrich's Skeleton Closet: Scandals, Quotes, and Character

Newt Gingrich is smarter than you. Don't feel bad, he's smarter than the rest of us, too. Just ask him. Or look at what he's done.

Repeated adultery with younger women, while each successive wife was seriously ill. Attacking mortgage lender Freddie Mac, while secretly getting paid $1.6 million as a lobbyist for them. A half-million charge account at Tiffany's Jewelers for his latest, youngest woman (that we know of). Attacking Congress for gridlock, when he personally led the destruction of Congress' civility and traditions in the 1980s as a "bomb-thrower" and evil genius tactician.(Seriously, look it up.)

All this for 30 years running, and he's still a leading contender for President as a religious, morally crusading Republican? Yeah, he's smarter alright. As an historian, he knows Americans forget anything over 5 years old, and the press will ignore your long-term character traits if you give them any new, shiny story to report.

It's not that Newt lacks charm. My personal favorite thing is that he loves, loves, LOVES dinosaurs, with the deep enthusiasm of a five-year-old boy. He even gave a zoo $15,000 to buy 2 huge monitor lizards. For that matter, did you notice how many of his "visionary" scientific ideas involve lasers and outer space and huge explosions?
A MOON BASE?!?! AWESOME!!! That's adorable. The problem is, most five year olds have a sincere narcissism that would lead them to happily order far-off cities destroyed if they got some candy in return. That's why we don't put them in charge of the world.

I've researched a lot of polticians' scandals over the years. Some are lying, adulterious lechers (Clinton). Some are money-grubbing and corrupt (Santorum). Some are vindictive and dangerously authoritarian (Giuliani). Some are incredibly phony and change with the wind (Romney). Some are draft dodgers (actually, most of them are). But in 17 years, only one man has been able to combine every one of these moral failings into one, super-humanly despicable candidate: Newt Gingrich. Click on the allegation of your choice:

Hi cricket23

Before 1986 till 2002 were many ways to come to this country:

1) across the south borders.
2) overstay visas
3) false visas
4) false visas
5) false visas
DWG wrote:
<quoted text>In the Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act of 2002, the U.S. Congress mandated the use of biometrics in U.S. visas. This law requires that Embassies and Consulates abroad must issue to international visitors, "only machine-readable, tamper-resistant visas and other travel and entry documents that use biometric identifiers. Additionally, the Homeland Security Council decided that the U.S. standard for biometric screening is ten scans collected at all U.S. embassies for visa applicants seeking to come to the United States.....
And Ted Kennedy was blessed guy to agree with President Regan.

REGAN SAID:

"I believe in the idea of amnesty for those who have put down roots and lived here, even though sometime back they may have entered illegally," ......

SO CRICKET 23 you know and I know everthing is fine, because :

A) Amnesty is Amnesty.

B) Security is Security.

C) Just a bird can not make spring or summer ( God Bless Ted Kennedy )

If an ILLEGAL alien was able to stay in the US without criminal means and/or lying I can go with amnesty.

BUT if they used fake or stolen social security numbers, tax id numbers, green card/visa numbers or fake names etc they should not get amnesty because being here ILLEGALly is not the only CRIME they committed. If they lied on any government or corporate paperwork for anything to registering the kids for school or a credit card they should NOT get amnesty. No amnesty from income tax evasion. No amnesty from not contributing to social security and workmens comp etc. No amnesty for ANY crime other than ILLEGAL residency in the US.

If you want to give them amnesty for residency status that's onething but NO amnesty from any CRIMES that were committed while being in the US ILLEGALly including FRAUD and/or ID theft.

Definitions:

Alien, Immigrant, Illegal Alien, Undocumented Immigrant

These related terms are often used in deliberately confusing and conflicting
ways.

Here is a set of definitions that will help you sort out the difference.

IMMIGRANT: In popular usage, an "immigrant" is generally understood to be a
person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence.
Under this definition, therefore, an "immigrant" is an alien admitted to the
U.S. as a lawful permanent resident. The emphasis in this definition is
upon the presumptions that (1) the immigrant followed U.S. laws and
procedures in establishing residence in our country; (2) he or she wishes to
reside here permanently; and (3) he or she swears allegiance to our country
or at least solemnly affirms that he/she will observe and respect our laws
and our Constitution.

ALIEN: By contrast, an "alien" is generally understood to be a foreigner --
a person who comes from a foreign country -- who does not owe allegiance to
our country.

ILLEGAL ALIEN: An "illegal alien" is a foreigner who (1) does not owe
allegiance to our country; and (2) who has violated our laws and customs in
establishing residence in our country. He or she is therefore a criminal
under applicable U.S. laws.

The term "illegal alien" is used by U.S. citizens who believe that non-citizens entering our country must comply with our immigration laws.

The term "illegal alien" is predicated upon U.S. immigration law which requires foreigners entering the U.S. to comply with our country's rules and laws regarding entry into, and residence within, our country.

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT: The term "undocumented immigrant" is an oxymoron (the parts conflict). An immigrant is synonymous with "permanent legal
resident." The old term for the document authorizing a permanent legal resident is "green card." The term "undocumented" is derived from the
accurate term "undocumented aliens" who are often called "border crossers." Proper terms are "illegal alien" or "undocumented alien" but not
"undocumented immigrant."

Although not commonly used, the term "documented
alien" accurately refers to foreign nationals who have an unexpired non-immigrant visa such as H-1B.

Most U.S. citizens do not use the term "undocumented immigrant" and prefer, instead, the more descriptive and accurate term "illegal alien".

The term "undocumented immigrant" is used by those who believe in "open borders", i.e., non-regulation of foreigners entering into and
assuming residence in the U.S., including even those foreigners who owe allegiance to a foreign government and/or who may intend harm to the U.S.

AROUND 1986 till 2013, people stay in USA:

1) across south and north borders.
2) overstay visas.
3) false visas

"
Take for example the alleged United States visa fraud activities in Gambia. It has been reported that there are certain individuals and businesses that operate in the country, misleading US visa applicants that they can secure them visa without their personal presence at the embassy for the normal procedure.
Isnít this dismaying and discouraging? But donít despair, the US government thru their embassy and the US Department of State have undertaken several fraud-stopping measures to control and stop these fraudulent individuals and businesses.
http://www.nationalvisas.com/blog/2012/03/us-...

They stay after last amnesty, amnesty that envited many others to come and stay, because at that moment is so easy to find a jobs, drive cars, etc....

This facilitation open a big hole in USA economy, and now is time to fix like the last election spoke 2012 election.

And now in XXI CENTURY WE HAVE:

PERSON INSIDE USA
PERSON OUTSIDE USA
PERSON UNDOCUMENTED IN USA

You are truly delusional if you believe Obama was voted for a second term due to the Latino vote. Sorry, not so!
Obama campaign/Election was saturated with FRAUD.Latino may become/are devoted Democrats today( due to their habit of voting themselves for more Gov. Assistance) but under no way can they change an honest election with solely their numbers.
Need I remind you, as Obama continues to degrade America (in every aspect as he is doing)more and more people are discovering what the Dem./Politicians in our WH are up too/ are continuing to do to this great Nation. Those Latinos(you speak of) will eventually vote against the Dem./Progressive Machine when they discover the American Dream is unreachable under their (Progressive/Democrat)rule.
