Midwest Democrats look to Tuesday's races to upend GOP gains

There are 24 comments on the WEHT story from Aug 14, 2018, titled Midwest Democrats look to Tuesday's races to upend GOP gains. In it, WEHT reports that:

Democrats are fighting to beat back Republican gains across the Midwest as the 2018 primary season roars through Wisconsin and Minnesota, two states where President Donald Trump's appeal among working-class voters threaten to upend decadeslong political trends this fall and beyond. Tuesday's primary contests for governor, the U.S. Senate and the House will test the strength of Trump's fiery coalition against the energy of the Democratic resistance.

Talk about a misleading headline.

These are PRIMARIES.

No one is "running against" the other party, this is to determine who will in November.

No "gains" will be made in this election.

Only liberals would judge negative about the middle class getting good jobs and more money.. It is why they lost the last election and will lose the next too. Voter vote with their pocketbooks.

That is true. It was the economy that carried President Clinton, but it is more that will carry this President to victory. Our lives are better. Our future is safer. Our children are happier. Yes, there are the "malcontents" calling for "no border, no wall, no USA at all," but there aren't enough t pay attention to, and they really don't count. I just point them out to show how far the Democrats have fallen!

The important numbers are that 81,000 more Dems came out to vote in WI’s primary that did Reps.
(Remember Rump only won here by 17,000)

In MN it was 241,000 more.

Rasmussen has a poll today that shows 36% of black voters approve of President Trump. That is more then twice as many that approved of him in 2016. If he only had 25% of the black vote that would make a huge difference in 2020. He is the President to all Americans.

You also had 8 candidates vying for the chance to lose to Scott Walker.

The only real race on the GOP side was for senator and either candidate would be significantly better than Tam-a-lam-a-ding-dong so there's the "stay at home" factor.

Haven’t noticed a lot of election apathy amongst the Rumpettes, but I don’t really run in those circles.

I was rooting for actual working class hero Mitchell over bureaucrat Evers but either way the change is overdue will be a big win for working Wisconsinites.

Baldwin will shelack rootin’-tootin’ Vukmir.

I think the left made a huge mistake nominating Evers. He's about as milquetoast as you can get. Walker will destroy him in debates. Mitchell is an a$$, but at least he has some fire to him (no pun intended).

Working Wisconsinites. You must mean the over 97% of our fellow residents who actually have jobs now. The only sectors of Wisconsin who aren't in better shape now than they were 8 years ago are public union members...... Which translates into better for the rest of us.

If you wish to make that point I have to ask...

Why on earth are we giving Foxconn $4.5 BILLION in taxpayer money for (maybe) 13,000 jobs?
