Hasn't it already been established that the states have no right to dictate to the Feds what they can and cannot do? And isn't this an attempt by the states to demand that the Feds follow STATE laws by denying protections only to *some* married couples??

This guy is just as rabid crazy as the rest of the haters.

Maybe we should start treating marriage licenses like professional licenses and make all couples get one in each state they might want to practice in. I certainly hope for the 14th district's sake anyways, that this isn't their elected representative's only legislative effort, this one is going nowhere.

Somebody had to step up. Thanks, Rep. Weber! The feds are slowly stripping away the sovereign rights of the states that make up the United States of America. Each state has their own set of laws and are entitled to enforce them without being hamstrung by the federal government.

I salute any man or woman who authors a new, or revised, law to protect a state from forced compliance with any law that goes against the grain of the state's own laws.

I know that the South was for States Rights and a group of haters took the confederate "Battle flag" and turned it into something signifying hate.

But I said let us fly the "Battle flag" as a symbol today for "STATE RIGHTS"!

Take back that flag from those idiot hate mongers and use for State and individual rights.

This bill has ZERO chance of passing, and just show how bigoted and hateful the average Republican is.

Sir. Please leave this planet. Haters like you and others that "QUOTE" state rights. What about my rights? Times are changing, its up to you people to embrace change or die. The choice is solely up to you and other haters. I myself look forward to getting married soon in TEXAS and I will personally send you an invention. See you soon.

The last conclusion I ever want to draw when someone's views seem as hateful as this is that they're not sane. I think it's a refuge that people take *because* they don't want to agree with a reality before them.

In 2014, I am now concluding that these antigay people are NOT entirely sane. They act like they're out of their minds.

If anyone sees the view of this individual as anything but so severely hateful that he's all but a danger to society at large, then I vehemently disagree with them and question their sanity, as well.

The proposed legislation does nothing, nothing at all, but heap savage hatred upon families and *very, very deliberately and willfully* give them a hard time, creating hardship for them, their spouses and their children -- all because of a BELIEF SYSTEM which is itself so whacked and so jaw-droppingly prejudiced that ... I conclude these people (you see? hahaha) not to be in their right minds.

This doesn't excuse them, either.

Hey racist-apologist and loon, many of the breakaway states own papers of incorporation, as well as the Confederacy's, enshrined slavery right in them.

But you don't think that slavery was racism, and you don't think there's anything wrong with racism, either. You just get upset when you're called out as racist.

Try to process this simple fact, Fido. Any law against same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. How you or I may feel about it is irrelevant.

Actually, states don't have a "sovereign right" to determine FEDERAL tax benefits.

Well, since one of the "state rights" that the confederates in the south were fighting for was the right to own other people, I doubt that's going to happen.

But this does does highlight why federal government must sometimes step in when individual states strip away the basic constitutional rights of minorities.

The extremist right wing fundamentalist fringe agenda is to be mean toward people with whom they don't like. Persistent bullying bespeaks their primitive mentality, limited personal capacity and incapacity to govern effectively or ethically. Only their fellow misguided, mouth breathing, knuckle dragging constituents would elect them to govern.

It's not just meanness, but also ignorant to believe a state government can override federal law to deprive citizens of equal civil liberties.
