You call this immigration reform?

There are 21 comments on the Salon story from Mar 2, 2013, titled You call this immigration reform?. In it, Salon reports that:

Remember when a big takeaway from the 2012 elections was the changing political calculus behind immigration reform? After Republicans got trounced among Hispanics and Asian Americans, the political logic of legalization seemed all but inevitable, setting the stage for the passage of comprehensive immigration reform early this year.

You can't let the immigration problem in status quo. It is the question of "do you want to fix what is broken or leave it broken". Deportation is out of the question. Fix what is broken. And the time is now.

The only people who think deportation is out of the question are illegal aliens and those who exploit them for monetary and/or political gain. If every illegal alien who is arrested is deported rather than released to continue stealing from our citizens we would quickly see a reduction in the number of illegal aliens. You are right that we cannot maintain the status quo where we ignore illegal aliens and the crimes they commit as well as the crimes committed by those that profit and exploit illegal aliens and American tax payers. Throw a few employers into jail as well as those who aid and abet illegal aliens as the law requires and things will change quickly.

Amnesty is criminal coddling. Illegals have already destroyed the once great state of CA and will destroy us all if we don't chase them out. And we can easily make them leave if we just stop giving them things like jobs and free health care and free school.

Agreed. We don't have a Mexican problem up north like you do down there, but we can read the writing on the wall. They say it's impossible to get rid of all the illegals, but it's also impossible to have every American stop using illegal narcotics or murder citizens. That's no reason to say do away with the war on drugs or decriminalize murder.

I'm willing to send them back bus by bus. It's one of the few things I think my tax dollars should go towards. And if we can't get them all, then we get rid of as many of them as we can.

You are willing to pay to send them back by bus? Really? At 40 people per box plus CBP staff we would need 275,000 buses to handle 11 million people.

Assuming each bus is 50 feet in length if they were placed end to end the line of buses would be 2600 miles long.

Sounds like a realistic idea.

It isn't broken it just wasn't enforced properly. The solution is not to allow illegal aliens to remain here with 23 million Americans out of work. The solution is to enforce our laws and remove all the incentives for them to remain here or to continue to come here such as jobs, benefits and birthright citizenship. Time to do what is right for our own citizesn not illegal invaders.

"Immigrants"? Illegal aliens aren't immigrants and knock off the lies about the American worker. Americans have always worked hard and we have always had a large blue-collared American workforce. You're the idiot to claim otherwise to defend immmigration lawbreakers.

Exactly. The politicians say we need to bring in people to do the jobs Americans won't do. I say bull. We need to bring in people to do the jobs our politicians won't do.

You pay an American worker enough money, he or she will do any job. If you need to have your toilets cleaned at your business twice a day, and offer $14.00 per hour plus benefits, you will not only have clean toilets, but the cleanest toilets in town.

I didn't say all at once. A couple of busses every day would be fine.

When Arizona created their own immigration laws, illegals left that state like a bad habit. There were reports of half-crews showing up for work and some classrooms totally empty in their schools. They left because Arizona created a deterrent. Of course, DumBama put a stop to that. But the point is that if you're not going to do anything to lawbreakers, expect more lawbreakers in the future.

A couple of buses a day? In that case it will only take 376 years.

And you would have no problem with that provided that those couple of busses on one day were the people lowering your wages or about to close down your hospital. Maybe some that were ruining your neighborhood.

Lowering my wages?!?!?... Mexicans???... Are you insane?... Either you were not hugged enough when you were a little kid or your uncle sexually abused you!... In both cases it's not Mexicans fault!
