Duh, I don't think like you, fortunately. To me guns, war, murder, crime and death are all interlinked evils. You want guns for protection? That means you have a society full of guns available to anyone, for crime as well as protection. You wouldn't NEED as much "protection," IOW, if you didn't have as many guns.
Robbing schoolkids of their freedom to LIVE is as sick as it could possibly get. And you're endorsing that. Yes, I know evil. YOU are evil.
You live in a 1 dimensional world prof. Guns do not equal war, murder, crime and death. They can just as any other piece of machinery. How many tractor deaths occur every year? You seem to forget that it's not just the guy standing next to you who could rob you of life or liberty or both. It's nut cases like kim in north Korea, it's the Mexican cartel, it's your own corrupt gubmint officials. I know what your problem is prof. You TRUST the wrong people; I, on the other hand, trust no one. As I said, evil comes in many forms, even a fine pressed suit.

Nothing is more "one dimensional" than a world where "guns = good, regulation = bad." And that's YOUR world.

Once again your single faceted mind is showing. Regulation is already in place, what part of that don't you understand?

No. What YOU don't get is that no matter how many gun laws you want to pass, the criminals will NEVER give theirs up willingly. Instead, you want to make the rest of us disarmed victims to those who refuse to follow the rules. Sorry, moron.....you WILL NOT make a victim of me or mine. Again.....GFY!

And ^that^ is pure proof of YOUR one-dimensional thinking. Guns are neither good nor bad. PEOPLE are. Guns are merely tools. Do you have to work at being this stupid, or does it come naturally???

More proof of your one-dimensional thinking. Mere posession of a THING does not an evil person make.

Stupidity is certainly natural to you and your little gunnie buddies here, since you idiotically repeat the same dogma that "guns don't kill people, people kill people!" over and over, no matter how absurd or irrelevant it is.

Yawwwn....another reptititive, boring bumper-sticker argument.

I could say that stiff gun laws which removed large numbers of guns from circulation, coupled with the seizure and destruction of guns USED by criminals, would make it hard for a criminal to GET a gun....harder and harder, as the process continued. Esepcially when coupled with harsh punishments for using guns in crimes.

But that'd be arguing RATIONALLY, something you CLEARLY can't or won't do.

So take your own advice, putz.

You did clown. "Nothing is more "one dimensional" than a world where "guns = good, regulation = bad." And that's YOUR world. Regulation = bad. We already have regulation, nit wit. Is your Paxil waning again, prof? It seems to be a pattern with you. You are all euphoric, using little ;)'s and then you hit the wall. Interesting.

Show me one example of a gun being tried for shooting someone, moron. Or just one that leaped out of its holster all by itself and went on a shooting spree. What's absurd is claiming that guns kill people. It's a nice buzz phrase, but alas.....NOT TRUE!

And per the FBI Unifrom Crime Statistics, that number dropped to 12,664 in 2011. A drop of 14.3% in one year.
Just a measly 12,664 in a year?

PS:(quote)

In 2011, an estimated 14,612 persons were murdered in the United States. This was a 0.7 percent decrease from the 2010 estimate, a 14.7 percent decline from the 2007 figure, and a 10.0 percent decrease from the 2002 estimate.

Wow! Putting aside your obfuscation...

Putting aside in 2012 14,748

China had 13,410. Of course... they have five times as many people...

PS: There have been a steady rise of firearm fatalities in the USA.

Rise means: going up.

Dead means: dead.

That's why guns aren't arrested, dumbazz, and why Americans aren't trying to ban guns from selling themselves, but, instead, are going after people like you who do not have the morals to insist on making sure someone buying the weapons you are selling aren't- as OFTEN the case is- a felon.

PS: Laws are not put in place to keep automobiles from driving themselves over the speed limit, they are in place to keep the person DRIVING the automobile from speeding.

Check the laws in your state, I am sure you will find I am right but feel compelled to lie about it.

No, nitwit, what we have is a loophole immoral people like you exploit when you sell firearms to felons.

WRONG!!! Laws do NOT prevent anything from happening. They provide a means to PUNISH someone AFTER they break the law.

Try again, dumbass.

Laws are not made to prevent something from happening, dumbphq: that is not their purpose. They are guidelines for what is permitted in a society and an accounting for what happens when someone wanders off the path.

It is immoral for anyone to sell a weapon to someone they do not know, for example, though that is what happens hundreds if not thousands of times a day, and someone who had any morals would not sell a deadly weapon to a stranger without knowing whether or not he was a felon or a wife beater (for example).

You are that kind of immoral person: the law requiring you to check the status of the buyer is not going to change what kind of person you are. But with a law in place- you will abide by the law or if not, we will put you in jail and we will take away your toys.

This is why 90 percent of Americans- including 80 percent of gun owners- know why we need this law: to protect ourselves from people like you who lack the morals to check.

Laws do 'prevent' illegal activities, by the way: if there were no laws re: speeding, if the law was: us your common sense, we'd have idiots driving 130 MPH on the freeway.

That is to say: the consequences from violating laws do prevent the actions of the lawbreakers.
