Don't forget to add that we need to end birthright citizenship, another impetus for illegals to sneak in. The thought of getting a jackpot for having baby after baby must be so appealing to them, especially when they realize they didn't have to contribute a dime into the system, yet can make so many withdrawals.

That's a fact, and the media helps him cover it up from the American public.

Obama's agenda, first of all he wants to insure his "legacy". Secondly, it is to continue the campaign for the LWLD's, and insure that the next president is so far left, they become the "new" right.

Who said anything about killing babies??? Mothers that have kids for all the wrong reasons are killing them a little bit each day by their neglect and lack of nurturing and guiding them to live a life of doing good works and obeying our laws.

suure,so let's get fracking go loose and keep on the wars for oil instead of getting on the path to make America energy independent and instead build a "chinese wall like"border with Mexico with moat with crocodiles on the backs of every American,so then the coyotes can take other routes to get here under ground or by the sea and charge more for their "job".Very smart and progressive thinking...

you should excuse yourself from posting we had enough of your hate agenda....you know damn well that those Mexican women's that you accuse them of "neglecting"their kids are in fact taking care of our kids and they do a damn good job... And if it comes to brake the law in not denouncing them to authorities I will be the first one to brake that law...again people like you make me puke...bleeahhh

That's a scary thought...seeing as they have a hierarchical family system in which older kids care for the younger ones. If they don't teach the older kids much of anything, how are those older kids going to do a good job of guiding the younger ones? People like you, who look the other way at a group of interlopers who are hurting this country, make me want to puke. When I spoke of parents neglecting their kids, that was a blanket statement for those who have them for the wrong reasons...that encompassed legal and illegal folks. Where did it state Mexicans specifically??? Many lazy Americans choose that route as well, however, I would rather help any American family who may have at one time contributed into the system and has come upon hard times. It certainly makes no sense to have kids if one is incapable of feeding and nurturing them, now, does it?

Maybe you did not mention Mexicans by name but you clearly have
an issue with foreigners.

People keep cloaking this as strictly a law and order issue where they simply can not tolerate anybody breaking any law at any time for any reason. Respect for the letter of the law is absolute. No exceptions.

That is fine. Nobody would have an issue with that, but you have to be consistent.

At the top of the thread you said that "we need to end birthright citizenship". On one hand you make a huge issue of people committing a civil offense and on the other hand you completely dismiss a Constitutional Amendment that you do not like.

You either respect the law or you do not. You just can't pick and choose the laws you think are worth respecting.

The law has been totally abused, and you know it. It's intent never had anything to do with granting the children of illegals to be gifted with US citizenship. It needs clarification or to be amended to stop the frivolous give-way it allows.

Ok, but by your reasoning I assume that you support people who are hoping for immigration reform. If you do not agree with a law then it is acceptable to try to change it. Right?

Both of us and most people on these boards are citizens because of birthright citizenship. It is not because we did anything to earn it. We did not cross oceans or deserts to get here. We were just fortunate enough to be about to draw our first breaths here. I don't know about you, but even though I am proud of my long dead ancestors who came here I can not accept credit for their sacrifices. I merely benefited from them.

As for the 14th Amendment this strange sort of myth has developed on Topix that it involved former slaves. There is a lot of truth to this, but it was an issue for a long time before Emancipation. There were questions about the citizenship of Native-Americans. There were also issues regarding the citizenship of people born in western territories. After the Mexican American War we added several new territories to the Union. There was great debate at the time regarding the citizenship of people born in these territories. Many people felt that since these were not states at the time and the people were born in what was then Mexico they were not US citizens. That is one of the reasons the amendment uses the term "jurisdiction" instead of simply saying anybody born in the US. Clearly the residents of these territories were not born in the US.

So in the end it is ironic that the 14th Amendment was used to grant citizenship to people who were actually born in "Mexico", but now people what to deny citizenship to people who were born in the US.
