Broward School Violence: Cruz's Massacre Is Far From the Whole Story
By Paul Sperry, RealClearInvestigations - April 15, 2018

Broward County juvenile justice division records, federal studies of Broward school district safety and the district's own internal reporting show that years of “intensive" counseling didn’t just fail to reform repeat offender Cruz, who allegedly went on to shoot and kill 17 people at his high school. Records show such policies have failed to curtail other campus violence and its effects now on the rise in district schools — including fighting, weapons use, bullying and related suicides.

Thank President Obama and his Education Department for the Broward County school shootings, not the NRA. Broken Windows policing reduced crime in New York City. Failure to charge school age violent offenders with crimes has resulted in unpunished offenders escalating to more violent crimes.

And placing blame is supposed to bring people back ? How many children could he have killed without that rifle ?

The policies that produced Cruz are still in place. The Sheriff is still in office. The Superintendent is still there. Cruz had committed many crimes for which he could have been jailed before he escalated to murder.

Just as many just with a different weapon. The weapon is merely the tool used, the person is the problem, not the weapon.

Right. And that first responder would have still stayed in the larking lot if Cruz would have been beating students to death with a textbook ?

Yes, as no alarms would have been sounded.

Yes. Also if Cruz had not got the guns legally he could have gotten them illegally. There are too many out there to keep them from anyone with the money to buy them. However my point concerning the weapons as tools is to say that a person intent on killing will find a way regardless of what laws are in place and what is available to themselves. The Oklahoma City bombing had no weapons just a rental truck, fertilizer and a few common things act with the fertilizer.

More evidence from the article indicting President Obama's diversion program:

Meanwhile, murders, armed robberies and other violent felonies committed by children outside of schools have hit record levels, and some see a connection with what’s happening on school grounds. Since the relaxing of discipline, Broward youths have not only brazenly punched out their teachers, but terrorized Broward neighborhoods with drive-by shootings, gang rapes, home invasions and carjackings.

Broward County now has the highest percentage of “the most serious, violent [and] chronic” juvenile offenders in Florida, according to the county’s chief juvenile probation officer.

This is just a pathetic attempt by the right to try and revert attention from the fAct that this was a gun related issue. Nobody but the most severe of wing nuts would buy this. Almost humorous.

In Atlanta, just last week, a juvenile shot into a car, killing a little 3 year old boy in his car seat. The child's mother was in a rental car and thinks the car was shot because of mistaken identity. Things like this happen every day but this story never made the national news and was only covered locally. Perhaps we should be treating these juveniles who commit these felonies as adults.

These juveniles committing these crimes need discipline now more than ever. Allowing them to get away with it sends the wrong message and the problem proliferates, and when they turn 18 or 19 like Cruz, bad things will continue to happen.

I have heard it said that the breakdown of the American family is one of the most overlooked causes of these things. So many young males grow up without a good male role model because their fathers are either unknown to them of skipped out on their mothers.

That is like saying drunk drivers killing people make it necessary to ban cars ! A gun is just a tool. More people are killed with a knife than a rifle ! London had more deaths by knife than NY City did with guns. Crazy violent people will use any object to do evil. We need to ban pressure cooker and outlaw chemistry !
