If an assault weapons ban can't stop school shooters, what can?

There are 1016 comments on the Burlington Times News story from Mar 3, 2018, titled If an assault weapons ban can't stop school shooters, what can?. In it, Burlington Times News reports that:

At the crux of the arguments: What laws would keep students safe while maintaining citizens' Second Amendment rights? With varying levels of support, ideas currently debated in Florida include: an "assault weapons ban," red flag laws, stronger background checks and waiting periods, age limits for weapons purchases, and banning bump stocks. A look at the deadliest school shootings in United States history shows that no single idea - from the right or left - would have prevented every school shooting.

If an assault weapons bad can't stop school shooters, what can?

Clearly the best solution to this problem is more guns around the children.
The more guns there are the less shooting there will be because everyone agrees that a lunatic with a gun will be able to clearly understand shooting at children surrounded with armed people will result in their own death. One thing is for sure armed crazy people are very concerned abut their own safety, and would never endanger themselves just to shoot up bunch of kids before getting shot by the police.
Armed teachers is by far the best solution here.
Teachers are universally respected by all Americans.
We respect their values, we respect their work ethic, we respect and protect their unions, and we respect the hard work they do educating our children. Parents love and respect all the teachers their children interact with ad never belittle a teacher or disagree with their curriculum or disciplinary beliefs.
Just because some parents believe science should only be taught out of the bible, they respect the teachers who fill their children's head with nonsense science like the consistently disproven theory of evolution or possibilities of human activities having a permanent and irreversible effect on our planet's climate that could make life for humans on this planet difficult.
History teachers are well respected for their unwavering pro-American views on how Native Americans were treated by the European whites who came here and eradicated the Redman's savage way of life. We all love the lessons we learned in school about the plantation workers who came here from Africa seeking their version of the American dream.
I think all teachers will be honored to run out into the hallways to confront a crazy person with an AR-15 and a duffel bag full of magazines their purse sized 9mm to save the lives of our children.
It's time American teaches respect our families like we respect them.

When 3,100 kids die a year, in texting and driving, and nearly 40,000 people die in auto accidents every year, why do we care about a dozen or so kids dying in school shootings?

Because it's an opportunity to take away guns from those that would not use them on people, and for socialists to take away all of your freedoms.

If one life matters, like liberals always spew, we would ban cell phones and cars.

It's all fake and phony.

This is the price we, as a society, are paying for the decline in core values. We have deemed respect for parents, teachers, police and any position of authority, is not a priority. We have developed a society where it's all just about me. My opinions nullify yours, if I think it's right, you are wrong. We have removed all consequence and actually reward bad behavior. We have glorified extreme violence in our music and movies.

Without a change to our core values, even if we could remove all guns, it would be propane bombs, poisons or driving a truck through a crowd.

You know that President Cheeto just proposed taking guns away from people before due process, right? After eight years of living in fear, you come to find out there actually is a President that will come and take your guns. And you morons elected him.

Maybe not a ban on assault weapons. Maybe, just create a firearm license like a driver's license. You need to specific training classes and pass a written safety exam and purchase gun insurance for assault weapons.

In parts of the US, shooting guns is a major recreational activity where this is limited recreational activities to do. I think that progressives like myself forgot about that and shooting guns recreationally as a hobby can prevent people from getting boredom and doing more dangerous things like opioid addiction.

Only criminal Blacks and Mexican gangs in the U.S. have assault weapons. Assault weapons have selectable full automatic firing, which any of the guns sold legally in the U.S. do not have, unless fully licensed and severely monitored by the ATF. Gun control is a myth. Take the guns from law abiding, normal citizens and only criminals and gangs will have guns... turning good Americans into victims like all the cowards and do-nothings in the Florida shooting.

Sort of like a Commercial Drivers Licence for the big trucks, you may not know how to drive the truck on the open road, but as long as you pass the test----------

Yeah! That's it! Base your whole arrangement around the definition of the word, irregardless of it's common understanding and descriptive use in proposed legislation. That will really get your point across. SMH.

When you say, "like all the cowards and do-nothings in the Florida shooting", you mean the trained, experienced, armed Deputies on the scene that did nothing? Training and arming them certainly didn't stop the crime from happening.

Get serious. How many school shootings actually involved assault weapons and how many were just ordinary pistols or rifles?

The problem isn't the guns, it's not the kind of people who have them. It's that our country is sick and we are determined to ignore it.

The tariffs may create some jobs and kill others.

Trump didnít think that through very well.

Why didnít he consult with an economist before doing that?

Probably because you won't get the same answer from any two of them.

Why don't you ask Congress? Because they are only interested in their next re-elections.

Why don't you ask rich people? Because they are only interested in setting up their kids.

The best people to ask are the general public. They are the ones in need. They often can't afford a second chance so they are focused on the here and now. When they stop thinking that way, it's because they got those jobs. Then you can make your "visionary" plans, BUT you'll have to sell them. For now, listen to the blippin public!

You would need to define which definition of "assault rifle" you're using. The definition that the NRA wackers love using to try to distract from gun reform, or the one that the majority of the populous understands as it relates to weapons based upon platforms, and features, designed for military use.

Your definition of assault weapon would include all semi-automatic guns, including .22 caliber varmint rifles and likely, semi-auto pistols. Your real intent is to confiscate all legal guns, so your idolized dope dealers and other criminals can take advantage of your anti-death penalty inclinations... being the only ones with guns. Definition of a term is not the only argument against your insanity. The resultant non-action of people in the recent tragedy, including students during the shooter's reloading, is a result of you pansies teaching our children to be cowards and bullies. Everything you teach has been characterless and murderous... with Sixty Million aborted babies lining the streets of America for nothing more than pandering to your depravities and weaknesses. That guy Hogg for instance... saw the guy reloading and didn't do a damn thing to stop him, because he was too busy DURING THE SHOOTING practicing for his TV appearance. You are cowards because your sole focus is on how precious you are.

Bravo! >golf clap< That was a lovely, and utterly insane, public rant. My favorite part is when you whine and cry while actually acting like you're talking to the one person responsible for everything you think is wrong with society. Or at least the part of society spoon-fed to you by the cable news outlets. You're pathetic.

I have a plan for you. You keep anonymously blaming the victims, as they keep making nationwide statements and march on Washington. You keep arguing the definition of the term "assault rifle" as bipartisan politicians move legislation forward with that term in it. You keep calling people cowards as they stand for what they believe in, and you hide anonymously behind your computer. And you keep your head in the sand as your President recently suggested taking away firearms from civilian before any due process. In the end, you'll maybe see that you've accomplished absolutely nothing.

You're becoming more and more irrelevant by the day.
