budget surplus.
"LOS ANGELES — Ever since he came into office, Gov. Jerry Brown has promised to address what he has long called the state’s “wall of debt” built up over years. And now that the nation’s most populous state is looking at a multibillion-dollar surplus, Mr. Brown, in a $155 billion state budget proposal submitted on Thursday, is pledging to make good on that promise.
While Mr. Brown called for an 8.5 percent spending increase, he also proposed spending $11 billion on debts and liabilities, including a $6 billion deferred payment to schools and roughly $4 billion to pay down economic recovery bonds issued by his predecessor, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Mr. Brown’s budget was missing some of the proposals for new spending on social programs, like universal prekindergarten, that many Democrats have called for.
Some Republicans quickly praised Mr. Brown’s approach, but it could set off a fight among fellow Democrats, who control the legislature and hope to use some of the projected $4.2 billion surplus to restore program cuts."
Let's see....$83Billion in unfunded obligations and a $4.2Billion surplus leaves us with what?

$78.8Billion in unfunded liabilities.

Great surplus, huh?

California ended the fiscal year with $1.9 billion left over in its state general fund, Controller John Chiang (D) said last week, the first time the general fund ended with a positive cash balance since 2007, the year before the recession began. The state Department of Finance has projected a $4.2 billion surplus for Fiscal Year 2014-2015, which began July 1.

But the fact remains about this article. The Democrats could have passed any immigration law they wanted between 2008 and 2010 but did not do a thing. So why did they do nothing when they had the chance?
And Congressman Marino called out Pelosi on this and we still have no answer.

I cannot help that you haven't graduated from high school.

Or can't even pass the GED exam.

Or don't know what super majority means... even after it has been explained to you.

Using small words.

PS: It's 2014. that's four years of House doing nothing.

So, you're just going to continue to deny the unfunded liabilities?

So typical.

Many folks take the deficit seriously..... Libwipes consider it money already spend and gone. Its in the past. they'll worry about it "SOMEDAY"..... That has always been how demholes do business. If they create a shortfall they bring up "raising revenue". Either by raising taxes outright or slipping an inc rease in those little unseen fees and other taxes. Their latest act of duplicity is going after big businesses thru the regulatory processes and levying fines for alledged infractions. The businesses pay up because the fine is always (by design) lower than a court fight. Need $2-3 billion a pet project or program? Find a liberally unsympathetic business and go after it. Hobby Lobby,ect.......

Republicunts...not so much, as evidenced by the budget surplus handed to George Bush who first thing- before even looking at the Al Qada threat- made a priority turning the budget surplus into a budget deficit which would end up in the $17 trillion deficit instead of being paid down by 2013.

Of course... Bush was just copying Reagan's model who in 8 years tripled the national deficit.

Large deficit= SOP for the GOP.

Look up these quotes. "I don't worry about the deficit, it's big enough to take care of itself". Reagan said that. "Deficits don't matter". Dick Cheney. Both, how did you put it? Libwipe, demholes?

Probably for the same reason he didn't close Gitmo that libs have complained so much about, or get rid of No Child Left Behind that they complained about, or get rid of the Patriot Act they complained so much about, or stop NSA surveillance they complained so much about. And how much did they fund embryonic stem cell research that they complained so much about when Bush was President?

Reagan:deficit was under $4T

Bush/Cheney: deficit was around $9T.

Obama: deficit is CURRENTLY $17 TRILLION and growing...... It was barely $10T when he was sworn into office.

So I will repeat myself. Between 2008 and 2010 the Democrats had large majorities in both houses could have passed ANY immigration bill they wanted and did NOTHING.. So why did they do nothing for two years?

Here difference between Conservative and Liberals. We dont think our so called leader are perfect and dont treat their every word as truth.
I liked Reagan but he made several huge mistakes(The first amnesty for illegals, not following through on redcucing the size of government etc)
Reagan was a man and not a divine messenger from God. And I hate to tell Liberals this but Obama is also human and is no where near perfect.

That is really stupid. Who believes Obama is God? Nobody I know. The other post referred to liberals and Democrats as loving deficits. I was simply pointing out attitudes toward deficits espoused by well known conservatives. The deficit is actually projected to be the lowest this year since Obama took office. The other poster seems to not be able to distinguish between deficit and debt. It really does not surprise me though. Many do not know the difference. I only wish that people would make comments based on fact and not something they hear. Reagan and Cheney both said those things about deficit. Governments carry debt and run deficits. That is simply how it is.

The national debt is $17T. The deficit will be the lowest this year since Obama took office. You need to know what you are talking about before you post something. You make yourself look extremely uninformed.
