Gun Control Does Not Work, '...God created the great minds of our Forefathers who drafted the Constitution' --the same 'great minds of our Forefathers who put their faith in the Enlightenment, more in science and history--- who were mostly 'Deists'( Deism is the form of religion most associated with the Enlightenment. According to deism, we can know by the natural light of reason that the universe is created and governed by a supreme intelligence; however, although this supreme being has a plan for creation from the beginning, the being does not interfere with creation; the deist typically rejects miracles and reliance on special revelation as a source of religious doctrine and belief, in favor of the natural light of reason. Thus, a deist typically rejects the divinity of Christ, as repugnant to reason; the deist typically demotes the figure of Jesus from agent of miraculous redemption to extraordinary moral teacher. )

News, CATatonic. Despite your desperate grip on ignorance, this is NOT a Christian country. The framers of our Constitution could have told you that.

......... Right now the terms are defined in the books and given as numbers for conditions. These definitions become the "diagnosis" of a therapist which really amounts to their opinion. Take into account most who become therapists do so since they have their own issues. I'm wondering what kind of bounty the gov't is going to start paying them to alert the backround check system to those individuals with certain "diagnosis" that would make them a "threat". Yep, you can be cosidered a threat from some crazy persons opinion of you from a book. So consider the possibility you see a therapist after a death in the family and you just got cut off in traffic on the way over and you are still upset about it. Bad day, and the therapist wants a new car, you just got on the list!! The gov't will circumvent that patient/ doctor confidentiality with "a threat to the public" and a payment to the therapist for being such a good American.

Yes, this is a Christain nation. Did you not notice the part about being created by our Creator. That was not the disgruntled Camel Jockey. You don't believe it, but many people know it to be true. And no, I don't care whether you believe it or not.

Do you think Joe will bring up the gun control bill to try to get Benghazigate off the front page? So the truth will set them free, or get them jailed!

Cat74,"Do you think Joe will bring up the gun control bill to try to get Benghazigate off the front page? " That's comparing 'apples and oranges" Of course VP Joe will 'bring up gun control'--he is campaigning around the country right now because 70& of the American people are angry, and mobilized in favor of gun sanity --Congress better beware if there's another defeat of a reasonable gun safety bill. Kelly Ayotte , one of the most popular Tea Party republicans , is taking severe heat from her constituents for her ludicrous no vote on the last gun control bill. Second, there is no 'Benghazigate' except in the frazzled minds of Republicans too scared of their more radical reactionary political base of teabaggers that just want them to get nothing done, but ventilate hatred for Obama

Holy hell, Glenn Beck clearly knows his target market better than even the clowns at Fox News know theirs.'44 percent of Republicans seriously think we may be on the cusp of an armed revolution?' "You know what I'd like to see as a follow up to this poll? I'd like to see people name exactly what liberties they think are at risk, and what liberties they think they've already lost. And if, as I suspect, the liberty they are most afraid of losing is the right to bear arms, I've got some good news for them: Republicans in the Senate couldn't even agree to expand background checks to include gun shows and internet sales. So the liberty of criminals to buy guns without any sort of background check isn't going away anytime soon." Check this out: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/05/06/1207...

Manchin needs to go along with Obama. He has a history of corruption and improprieties throughout his history as a coal industry executive and lobbyist for the anti-2nd Amendment agenda. He needs to stop being Obama's toadie if he wants to win re-election, let alone not face jail time for his many misdeeds.

What a dumb idea from Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on gun buybacks that can't be destroyed, but only sold back to federally -licensed gun sellers. Check this out: http://voice4america.com/masadluffy/2013/05/0... 'That basically bars police and supporters of the events from accomplishing their key goal, cutting the number of guns on the streets, and police likely would not participate.'

News flash for ya porch puppy. MANY states/municipalities do that with confiscated weapons or ones that have been turned in in useless "buyback" programs. The weapons are screened for any ties to crime(s)/stolen,if clean they are auctioned off to federally licensed dealers. This program has been an auxillary revenue source for police departments for ddecades.

Nate Silver has been one of the most accurate pollster analysts in modern times. Here's what he thinks are the chances that members of Congress who voted no on gun sanity will face serious repercussions in 2014. "Did the senators who voted against a proposal last week to expand background checks on gun buyers take an electoral risk?

At first glance, it would seem that they did. Background checks are broadly popular with the public. Overwhelming majorities of 80 to 90 percent of the public say they favor background checks when guns are purchased at gun shows, at gun shops or online. Support for background checks drops when guns are bought through informal channels, or gifts from family members but the amendment that the Senate voted upon last week, sponsored by the Joe Manchin III, Democrat of West Virginia, and Pat Toomey, Republican of Pennsylvania, would have exempted most of these cases."..." Some states, certainly, are more resistant to laws that would restrict gun ownership. Nevertheless, if as much as 80 or 90 percent of the public supports background checks like the ones Mr. Manchin proposed, the bill would be reasonably popular even in states where gun ownership is common." ... "there are 17 House Republicans in districts carried by President Obama last year"..."To the extent that the issue plays favorably for Democrats in 2014, it is likely to be for symbolic reasons because they are able to persuade voters that it reflects a Republican Party that is outside the mainstream.

This is not necessarily a hopeless strategy particularly if Democrats can weave the background-check vote into a broader narrative about the Republican Party having become too conservative. " Check this out: http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2013...

When do you think the Democrats will reintroduce the Gun Control bill? They have had plenty of time if they really thought they could win. They cannot win o gun control, the illegal alien amnesty, or the internet tax. In 2014 the Obama care bill will be ready, and it is already hated. The Democrats are facing an uphill battle to reelection. American leftists are funny. It is all about what have you done for me lately? And so far they haven't done nearly enough.
