Obama promises unlimited financial assistance to Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac

Dec 25, 2009 Full story: www.washingtonpost.com 327

The Obama administration pledged Thursday to provide unlimited financial assistance to mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, an eleventh-hour move that allows the government to exceed the current $400 billion cap on emergency aid without seeking permission from a bailout-weary Congress.

The Christmas Eve announcement by the Treasury Department means that it can continue to run the companies, which were seized last year, as arms of the government for the rest of President Obama's current term.

You keep avoiding the issue ... What have the democrats done or proposed to create more private sector jobs?... answer: Nothing! nor do they wish to. They only seek to expand government ... and stifle and kill the private sector. We are headed to government totalitarian socialism under the democrats. Capitalism may be all but dead within a year under this socialist regime.
Cut payroll taxes for stimulus, conducted successful bank stress tests that verified the banks were solvent and boosted the market 30% since the Bush disaster, and calmed the markets via a stable secondary offering environment that did not exist in 2008.

Capitalism is back on track after Bush quit seizing banks and insurance companies.

Ask Warren Buffett,(capitalist #1)- America has survived the Bushpigs.

From the AP --

"Six years ago, "it was standard practice not to pay for things," said Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah. "We were concerned about it, because it certainly added to the deficit, no question." His 2003 vote has been vindicated, Hatch said, because the prescription drug benefit "has done a lot of good."

GOP admits they didn't care about deficits when The Bush Pig was going wild spending.

BFD!

Barney was one House member of 435 - no real power at all. He took his Finance Chair in 2007 when the bubble had already burst.

The GOP wrecking crew never listened to anyone else anyway.

Now he is trying to reform the bank system - and will with new regulations and a sensible Congress.

He nationalized them in Sep of 08 after vetoing the GSE Reform Act of 2005 (HR 1461) that would have put severe restrictions on their capital ratios.
Way to go GOP!
Another moron - it was a Democratic Congress that passed that

Paulson nationalized the GSE's in September of 2008.

If by "passed that" you mean TARP - that was on Oct 30th or so - moron.

So Bushy-boy and Paulson actually confiscated wealth with no Congressional approval - and they were not banks subject to FDIC seizure!

And you call yourself a "capitalist" - LMAO.

Thanks to the radical left-wing extremists in your legislature led by Barney Frank (the voice of Elmer Fudd), Frank declared Freddy & Fannie "Fundamentaway sownd insistuwtions" and obstructed Bush's attempt to increase regulation which Bush hoped would prevent the housing pop which precipitated the democrat's Great Recession.

You should give thanks to Elmer Fudd this Christmas and New Year that less than a year after democrats took your legislature, they have succeeded in causing unemployment to explode to over 10% which has forced millions into government dependency. The democrats, of course, are the party of government dependency so you can see how the democrats INTENDED to cause and INTEND to keep unemployment high to keep those welfare dependent votes :-)

I gave up trying to explain to these idiots what the difference between a conservative and a republican is. They seem unable to grasp the idea that the tea baggers, 9/12ers etc. are not part of the republican establishment. You can also forget that giving them facts will change their rivisionist beliefs. I believe that they all have been educated under the umbrella of government education and do not have the mental aquity to educate themselves. It's just like pissing aganst the wind. I'm from Texas so how can I vote for you? If I were rich I'd start my own ACORN.. All we have in Washington now are a bunch of moral lepers and physical cowards so good luck.

The announcement by Alabama Rep. Parker Griffith that he is switching to the Republican Party is just the latest warning sign that the Democratic Party -- my lifelong political home -- has a critical decision to make: Either we plot a more moderate, centrist course or risk electoral disaster not just in the upcoming midterms but in many elections to come.

Rep. Griffith's decision makes him the fifth centrist Democrat to either switch parties or announce plans to retire rather than stand for reelection in 2010

IT IS SAID THAT HISTORY DOES REPEAT ITSELF………………………
Marie-Antoinette and King Louis XVI were probably one of the most famous prisoners among the thousands who were locked up in the Conciergerie. The poor king and queen paid very dearly for their excesses. They did not care to respect an etiquette they found too rigid, and their extravagances led her to spend exorbitant amounts of money while both the country's deficit and the hatred of the people towards her kept growing.

Marie was more frivolous and naïve than Louis, and she wasn't able to perceive her enemies' Machiavellian plots. She had married a king who was in all probability concerned with the happiness of his people, but who nonetheless was incapable of making decisions or putting his foot down and taking a stand when necessary. By the time Marie-Antoinette was transferred to the Conciergerie prison on August 3, 1793, she had already lost it all. Her husband Louis XVI had been executed on January 21 of that same year, and her beloved children had been taken away from her, the height of horror for her. While waiting for her trial to begin on October 15, 1793, Marie-Antoinette spent 76 agonizing days and just as many sleepless nights in her cell. Two policemen were assigned to watch her around the clock, thus depriving her of any privacy whatsoever. Against all odds, it was Citizen Richard, the wife of the attendant concierge, who, moved by this prisoner's state of utter despair, tried as best she could to bring her a little bit of daily comfort up until the morning of October 16 and her date with Madam Guillotine.

I've already signed the impeachment document. He's violating the US Citizen's rights and the US Constitution.

If the boy had any balls he'd resign. Passing this healthcare rape package, KNOWING FULL WELL THE MAJORITY OF AMERICA DOES NOT WANT IT, proves he's going to do what he wants to do and does not give a rat's ass about you or me or anyone else in America except his "partners in crime".
