And that is what is wrong with "higher education" in California. Campuses are infested with "thinkers" of the calibre of this man.
As to "gay marriage," which is what this rant is all about, it has just failed, again, for the 31st time when put to a vote in Maine. What is The Reporter's agenda in choosing to run tripe like this? |

Well, I got through half of this letter, and I declare bullspit. I don't even understand where the author is going with this drivel. Is the point married gays should be stuck with each other? or not married at all? What am I missing here...? Does the author think gays are the reasons divorce happens? Should I even care what this is about?

OK, what is the standard for "family values" here? If Christian, is it Catholic, Protestant, Eastern Orthodox, Mormon, Unitarian, Amish or the thousand other sects within Christianity, especialy in light that each one interepts the Word of God differently?
If Jewish, is it Reform, Conservative, Orthodox or Hasid? If Islam, is it Sunni or Shiite? How about Buddhist or Taoist or Zoroastrian family values? What exactly serves as the standard for "traditional family values" in the United States? Still remembering when "traditional family values" used to be a man and a woman married in church. Pregnancy only AFTER marriage and as many kids as possible. The wife/mother is to stay home and keep house and tend to child raising. It was a true social stigma to get pregnant before marriage and for the wife/mother to work outside the home. Anyone remember the homes for unwed mothers? Do we really want to go back to those golden days? |

Regardless of whatever slant the author is attempting to take, here is a plan we should all follow... let's get the State out of marriage! Why do you people feel that you need the State's permission to get married? You all have an unlimited right to CONTRACT (read the Constitution). In theory, the civil courts are there to enforce such legal contracts IF you ask them to. You and your partner don't need for the State to make you married via contract and you don't need the State to dissolve a contract if you both agree. The civil courts are there to enforce performance of legal contract.(For your illegal contracts, you are on your own.)
Come on people, get with the program! Get educated. Protect (or reclaim) your freedom. Tell the State to pound sand. Remember, you give power to the State... the State doesn't give permissions to you!! |
