Susan Collins, Joe Manchin open to Donald Trump Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh

There are 15 comments on the Washington Times story from Jul 10, 2018, titled Susan Collins, Joe Manchin open to Donald Trump Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. In it, Washington Times reports that:

The senators who will most likely decide Judge Brett Kavanaugh 's fate were studiously noncommittal Monday, promising a thorough and fair vetting before they say whether they'll support his nomination to the Supreme Court . And depending on absences, a single Republican defection could sink the pick - while the support of one or two Democrats could guarantee Judge Kavanaugh will be on the high court by the time the next term begins in October.

Any democrat that votes to confirm this a-hole should be immediately removed from the party and all funds cut off.

The American Family Association immediately called for lobbying in opposition to this Bushite, Karl Rovean, Beltway Insider who called Roe "sterling" ,"untouchable".

President Trump is not what cultural conservatives hoped he would be. He has a GOP congress and powerful prolife support, but he caved and gave the Dems just what they most want. I think Amy Comey Barrett would have been a better choice.

Stop being as whiny as the Democrats. This Justice will be what the Founders wanted, an unbiased Justice. Our Justices cannot rule from the bench any more then a Democrat appointed Justice. Amy Barrett will be the Justice to replace Ms Ginsberg. By that time we will have 5 addition Republican Senators, and confirmation will be easier.

Durbin is making an ass of himself. Minchin is losing in November so he can't be blackmailed into changing his vote. There are 4 more Democrats polling less then their Republican opponents, and 2 polling even. Democrats will lose at least 5 seats in the mid term. So they have nothing to lose, and since the Democrats know they are losing they reduced their money to make the run. They likely can be persuaded to vote for the Justice. President Trump will likely nominate at least 2 more Justices before he leaves office.

Excellent point, and one every true Democrat should take to heart.
Each and every Democrat should ignore their constituents and RESIST!
Demonstrate through action more than words that Democrats value the party more than democracy.
Annihilate the bourgeoise! Power to the Party!

Hmmmm....
Where have I heard that before?

How do you ignore your constituents? They are the Government. The Senators represent their constituents. Do they really want to lose their comfy seat in November to adhere to some archaic request? These are people who are already running neck, and neck with their opposition. Durbin's seat is safe. The powers that be have already stuffed the ballot boxes for him. I would think twice before I ignored the Constitution, but then Democrats make their own laws. Not for long.

Judge Kavanaugh might even work to right some bad laws. Democrats really should save their fight for the next nomination. I think the person that replaces that old geezer, Ginsburg, will be a woman, and she will keep Democrats up at night with their worst nightmares.

Roe vs wade needs to be overturned, it was a law made for the safety of women who absolutely needed one in a life or death situation , now it's used for birth control and we already have condoms and women's birth control for that, let's get women access to those products and not wait until they pregnant, time to fix this out of date law to reflect that we are not barbaric child killers but are the best and brightest in the world

So the others who would be next in line would be just as bad.

So are you suggesting that it is possible to prevent Trump from appointing anyone to the Supreme Court forever?

The chances of a New Democratic Majority and that House Speaker becoming POTUS are astronomical.

Even if Trump is impeached and Pence chooses a SCOTUS, it’ll be as bad or worse.

We are in a quagmire of the GOP dysfunction until 2020.

It stinks, but it’s the natural consequence of losing an election.

“Elections have consequences.” Barack Obama

Vote in November and Vote in 2020 as if your life depended on it.

This go ‘round there is only one party that can bring things back to normal, and it isn’t the GOP.

If you vote green, libertarian or some other lame offshoot, we’ll end up with Trump again.
