WCVP - Each time I remind them of this they cringe.

During a London concert ten days before the 2003 invasion of Iraq, lead vocalist Maines said, "We don't want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas". The positive reaction to this statement from the British audience contrasted with the boycotts that ensued in the U.S., where the band was assaulted by talk-show conservatives, while their albums were discarded in public protest.

Maines issued an apology on March 14: "As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect. We are currently in Europe and witnessing a huge anti-American sentiment as a result of the perceived rush to war. While war may remain a viable option, as a mother, I just want to see every possible alternative exhausted before children and American soldiers' lives are lost. I love my country. I am a proud American."

The apology went unheeded by Republicants who wanted blood. The picketed Walmart and other record selling outlets until the Dixie Chicks music was removed from sale. Radio stations held boycotts and stooges held placards that read, "He is OUR President. If you don't like it MOVE!"

In one famous anti-Dixie Chicks display, former fans were encouraged to bring their CDs to a demonstration at which they would be crushed by a bulldozer. In one poll by an Atlanta radio station, 76 percent of listeners who participated responded "if I could, I'd take my CDs back".

A Colorado radio station suspended two of its disc jockeys on May 6 for playing music by the Dixie Chicks.

The same year, the American Red Cross refused a $1 million promotional partnership from the Dixie Chicks.

The degree of hatred directed toward the Dixie Chicks included a specific death threat against Maines in Dallas that led to a police escort to the July 6 show and from the show directly to the airport.

How short are the memories of Republicants? They fail to heed their own words...if you don't like him, move.

This is a terrific example of the vitriol displayed by the Republicant stooge patrol.

http://www.holyobserver.com/detail.php...

Take note of the images on that page..."You are going to Hell!" "Christians against Chicks"!

Read on...

"Methodist pastor and regional protest organizer Blick Franklin told The Holy Observer in a phone interview. "After purchasing all 87 of Best Buy's Dixie Chicks CDs in Austin, I started thinking,'This seems oddly counterproductive.'"

That's when Franklin began the "Burn to Burn" campaign, which has built up quite a following. He explains, "Now we just download their songs for free on Kazaa and burn them onto CDs. Then we burn the CDs! When you break God's law you pay."

God's law? Seriously, that is why the Republicant party is so lost right now. They demand a Christian nation but don't know the first thing about what that means.

In other news, Hillary Clinton was paid $200,000 to speak to the National Association of Convenience Stores annual convention in Atlanta recently. This same group opposed the PPACA initially and was seen as a Republicant stalwart. Now, they embrace the woman who will succeed Barack Obama as our nation's next President. Oh, how the GOP has fallen...

I remember that Dixie Chick debacle and it was all hyped up by Fox News and a few other conservative sites. It's so sad that the Republican party is so hateful that they'll sell out their own people...NAY their own kids simply out of revenge.

O well... the Republican party is just a reminder that their way of life is filled with fear, hate and hypocrisy.

You know, when I say Republican Party... I really am referring to the radicalism within but it seems like that plague has spread deep into the party now days.

Like my Imperial Wizard leader says, " We simply were not ready to take orders from the Negro" <-- use a racist derogatory word instead.

You make unsubstantiated allegations. When pressed, you refuse to provide evidence for your opinion.
That is a sad legacy and proof that you knowingly attempt to mislead others or lack the intelligence to answer the query.
Well played. You lost, but I applaud your willingness to look foolish again.

No, that would be Laura Bush, the former first lady who actually killed someone all by herself.

Keep trying and I will keep making you look silly.

<quoted text>Lousy thinking and logic on your part. The poorest of the poor in Appalachia all have weapons and plenty of bullets. They also know how to handle them properly and make every shot count because it may make a difference between a freezer full of venison or other meat protein (rabbit, squirrel) or poultry (pheasant, dove, etc.) that they will use as a supplemental food source. And, you really don't want to mess with a moonshiner, much less the crazy KKKers who cook meth from hillside shacks or trailers back in the woods.
You actually don't understand much from everything I've seen you post.
Do try to keep in mind that more than a few gang bangers were strongly "encouraged" to sign up for the military, and since we were engaged in two unfunded wars that Bush started, they weren't really scrutinized as they would have been in years past. They came out of that experience with even better weapons skills but often back into environments where they STILL can't find jobs. So, what do you think they'd be inclined to do if you came on some bone headed raid? Do you think they'd bother to come hunt you down or simply wait for you to cross into their own territory? WHO taught them? Our U.S. training folks - some of the best in the world.
again, ANOTHER funny post... thanks!:)

first, the moonshiners and mountain-folk AIN'T the ones ANYONE needs to worry about, are they?

those folks already KNOW how to survive without the FG, don't they?

no, it's the CITIES that are being discussed here: the UBBAN 'poor'.

and, the BIGGER the urban area, the BIGGER the worry. like Louisville... not Mt Sterling or Moorehead, etc...

you know, those rugged individuals that have never caught a fish, let alone gutted one and ate it!lol

Again, I forgot that you have a tough time with big words...I will type slowly and you can have your tutor explain how letters form words...the title of the thread is "The President has failed us".

There, now make sure that he elaborates sounding out whole words. Soon, you will be able to read and enjoy life rather than rely on what the Fox 'news' Network tells you to believe.

I hardly worry about Judge Its. Some of these stooges participate in numerous anti-Obama threads and live for the 'attaboys' they get while whining. It is a sign of their insecurity.

Party on, Garth!

How extreme have House Republicans become?

Radical televangelist Pat Robertson thinks they've gone too far for his tastes.

“The Republicans have got to wave the white flag and say,‘We fought a good fight and now it’s over. They cannot shut the government down and then bring about a default. We can’t do it. I mean, it would be devastating economically to every human being and the Republicans just can’t get tarred with that.”

Congratulations, House GOP lawmakers. You’ve helped position a radical TV preacher as a voice of reason in conservative politics.
