Thanks! I quickly found some helpful names and dates which should get me some answers.
Oh, you're welcome. I can't believe you could leave! I started with a great-grandfather, and then I had to go back to his father, and his father, and his father, etc. Very cool as time regressed and locations changed;-) After that, Ancestry.com was great for finding out what others had researched about those long ago ancestors who had been identified and with whom so many of us were related. Too cool.

hyphenated Americans used to mean IMMIGRANTS. second, etc generations dropped the 'front' name. twas that way for generations.
to call attention to one's ethnicity/race was to MAKE A POINT.
what IS the point of Hispanic- or African-American?
ya' know, there WAS an America prior to 1970? some of it was pretty damn good, too.:)
I guess words had different meanings then (sigh)....
Sigh as you will higgins but I don't agree with you about the hyphenated name. It does represent ones heritage/race along with their citizenship. It did in the past as it does now. Nothing less American by someone using the hyphen then those that don't. That's the bottom line as I see it.
Just for your information I lived in that America prior to the 1970's a long time before.

I thought he meant those places where a man sticks his junk through a hole in the wall and gets the old 'rub and tug'. Sorry for my lack of "couth".
I know it doesn't make sense, since he was referring to a woman, but GR has previously displayed some confusion about these things.
Oh!.........LOL.....I didn't know.

2) Like I stated you can't have it both ways.. I personally would rather support a American child than a immigrant or a illegal..
Regarding the Z case he has not been convicted yet/or will and murder is a harsh term.. Lets keep in into perceptive..

Nope. I don't support ending either. I support encouraging mothers to work to support their children - thus leading by example. Even if that mother only does a little bit better financially than she would have done sitting on her duff gazing out the window, it's so worth it for her to demonstrate for her children that work pays and supports. Those are life lessons that help prevent generational poverty. While they're young, they're learning from her example.

Of course, you have to read awhile to understand how hysterically funny it is when she starts defending one character with the other character and then launches into an all out assault on the judge-it icons just to make sure. LOL
I think her BB avatar is interesting and another reason why AL (or other sock name) reminds me so much of her. It reads:
Liberalism = Communism
"I am a
God fearin'....
Bible believin'...
Gun packin'.....
America lovin'...
Conservative"
Can you believe the similarities? What a coincidence;-)

I still believe that most people would rather work and support themselves than take government money when they have that option.

<quoted text>Wrong from the first sentence. Unauthorized personnel on a military post ARE subject to confinement. Don't believe me? Try going onto Ft Knox without an ID. Ft Campbell is even stricter.
So, you're inclined to believe that this country would create a militarized zone directly on the border with Mexico? LOL Sweet dreams. Doesn't that remind you of East and West Germany? Of course, we understand that this was a dividing line between communism and freedom. Is that what you think about Mexico? What did you want to do about the border with Canada? Militarize that too?

That's not a solution. The solution comes with employer sanctions, brutally punishing fines and verifiable databases of who can/is not permitted to work in America. It continues with an end to tax refunds to individuals who file returns but who are not legally eligible to have even earned that income - much less receive a refund. That goes right back to the Federal Government's accommodation of business interests. If there were no jobs and no subsidies, people wouldn't enter this country in hopes of a better life. Oppose the U.S. Chamber of Commerce lobby and try to get on board with a solution that makes distinctions between adults who entered this country knowingly in violation of the law and their children who were brought across without freewill and whom we have educated and who only know America as their homeland. If their noses are clean, give them some kind of opportunity for citizenship - without chain migration in the mix.

The willful illegal enterers who are working - let them work as temporary guest workers, but make them play by the rules and tell them this is a limited time opportunity with zero retirement rights with respect to Social Security and Medicare. No pathway to citizenship. If they earn a pension funded by an employer and want to retire and can make it on that, okay. Otherwise, there is no subsidy for you. Save your money for retirement. When you leave the country, you will be provided the money that you have paid into the social security fund (with interest). Good luck! Then, if you want to come back for good? Get in the line and wait your turn.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Virgo

Keep a pinch of salt handy today because not everything you hear will be the gospel truth. Someone might have manipulated the facts to make them sound more acceptable, or they may have got carried away and forgotten to tell you something rather vital. Try to keep misunderstandings to a minimum by being as straightforward and honest as possible, and by not simply assuming that people know what you're talking about and therefore not bothering to explain properly.
