One example is the ridiculous law that holds the current property owner responsible for environmental pollution of past property owners. There are many production facilities sitting empty here in the USA. Most could be brought back into operation with minimal maintenance. But investors are weary about jumping on to these opportunities because the EPA is just waiting for some sucker to buy the plant and get it running so that they can drop a notice of violation on the new property owner for the lead contamination in the soil under the factory floor that was polluted fifty years ago and three owners back when the factory produced radiators for GM.

Cheech, do you know that Nancy Reagan suspected Daddy Bush behind Ronny almost getting assassinated?
During 8 years of Reagan the Bush family was never invited to a private dinner in the White House.
Believe it or not Daddy Bush was not in on it also.

The family of the man charged with trying to assassinate President Reagan is acquainted with the family of Vice President George Bush and had made large contributions to his political campaign, the Houston Post reported today.
The newspaper said in a copyright story, Scott Hinckley, brother of John W. Hinckley Jr., who allegedly shot Reagan, was to have dined tonight in Denver at the home of Neil Bush, one of the vice president's sons.
The newspaper said it was unable to reach Scott Hinckley, vice president of his father's Denver-based firm, Vanderbilt Energy Corp., for comment. Neil Bush lives in Denver, where he works for Standard Oil Co. of Indiana.
In 1978, Neil served as campaign manager for his brother, George W. Bush, the vice president's oldest son, who made an unsuccessful bid for Congress. Neil lived in Lubbock throughout much of 1978, where John Hinckley lived from 1974 through 1980.
On Monday, Neil Bush said he did not know if he had ever met 25-year-old John Hinckley.
Bush I may have been in on assassination of former Beatle John Lennon. "He could cost us the election," Bush reportedly said in 1980

Great job, CP! For those who won't "click", your link, here it is in print:

THE SEVEN BIGGEST ECONOMIC LIES

The Presidentís Jobs Bill doesnít have a chance in Congress ó and the Occupiers on Wall Street and elsewhere canít become a national movement for a more equitable society Ė unless more Americans know the truth about the economy.

Hereís a short (2 minute 30 second) effort to rebut the seven biggest whoppers now being told by those who want to take America backwards. The major points:

1. Tax cuts for the rich trickle down to everyone else. Baloney. Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush both sliced taxes on the rich and what happened? Most Americansí wages (measured by the real median wage) began flattening under Reagan and have dropped since George W. Bush. Trickle-down economics is a cruel joke.

2. Higher taxes on the rich would hurt the economy and slow job growth. False. From the end of World War II until 1981, the richest Americans faced a top marginal tax rate of 70 percent or above. Under Dwight Eisenhower it was 91 percent. Even after all deductions and credits, the top taxes on the very rich were far higher than theyíve been since. Yet the economy grew faster during those years than it has since.(Donít believe small businesses would be hurt by a higher marginal tax; fewer than 2 percent of small business owners are in the highest tax bracket.)

3. Shrinking government generates more jobs. Wrong again. It means fewer government workers Ė everyone from teachers, fire fighters, police officers, and social workers at the state and local levels to safety inspectors and military personnel at the federal. And fewer government contractors, who would employ fewer private-sector workers. According to Moodyís economist Mark Zandi (a campaign advisor to John McCain), the $61 billion in spending cuts proposed by the House GOP will cost the economy 700,000 jobs this year and next.

4. Cutting the budget deficit now is more important than boosting the economy. Untrue. With so many Americans out of work, budget cuts now will shrink the economy. Theyíll increase unemployment and reduce tax revenues. That will worsen the ratio of the debt to the total economy. The first priority must be getting jobs and growth back by boosting the economy. Only then, when jobs and growth are returning vigorously, should we turn to cutting the deficit.

5. Medicare and Medicaid are the major drivers of budget deficits. Wrong. Medicare and Medicaid spending is rising quickly, to be sure. But thatís because the nationís health-care costs are rising so fast. One of the best ways of slowing these costs is to use Medicare and Medicaidís bargaining power over drug companies and hospitals to reduce costs, and to move from a fee-for-service system to a fee-for-healthy outcomes system. And since Medicare has far lower administrative costs than private health insurers, we should make Medicare available to everyone.

6. Social Security is a Ponzi scheme. Donít believe it. Social Security is solvent for the next 26 years. It could be solvent for the next century if we raised the ceiling on income subject to the Social Security payroll tax. That ceiling is now $106,800.

7. Itís unfair that lower-income Americans donít pay income tax. Wrong. Thereís nothing unfair about it. Lower-income Americans pay out a larger share of their paychecks in payroll taxes, sales taxes, user fees, and tolls than everyone else.

Demagogues through history have known that big lies, repeated often enough, start being believed ó unless theyíre rebutted. These seven economic whoppers are just plain wrong. Make sure you know the truth Ė and spread it on.

California passes plastic bag ban, would be first such law in U.S.
A number of cities and counties in California and other U.S. states, including Hawaii's Maui County, have made it illegal for grocery stores to pack purchases in plastic. But at the state level, opposition from plastic bag makers has usually prevailed.
The California Senate voted 22-15 for the bill, which must be signed into law by Sept. 30 by Democratic Governor Jerry Brown, who has not signaled a position on the measure.
"Single-use plastic bags not only litter our beaches, but also our mountains, our deserts, and our rivers, streams and lakes," said state Senator Alex Padilla, who sponsored the bill.
If they would just issue stiff fines to the illegal aliens who go to the beach and toss their trash on the ground the same way they did back in their home country, they wouldn't need a law to prohibit plastic bags.

Illegal aliens are ignorant and nasty. They dirty up any recreation area that they go to. They just toss their waste onto the ground or into the lake even when there are trash cans within ten feet from where they drop their garbage. There was a nice lake about an hour drive south of Doge City, KS. It used to be a great place to take the family for a weekend of camping, boating, swimming until the illegal aliens working for the beef slaughterhouses in Dodge City started going there. In one summer, that lake went from being one of the cleanest waterways in western Kansas to one of the worse polluted sh!t holes in the state. Those effing Mexicans just tossed their dirty diapers into the lake and trashed the place up. The small city that built and maintained the lake began to issue citations to the illegals who were caught dumping their garbage onto the ground and into the lake but none of those stinking grease balls ever paid their fines. The city increased their user fees but the people who used to pay to play quit coming and the illegals never paid anything to begin with so the city sold drilling rights to a energy company and now the lake is surrounded by natural gas wells and the air stinks too bad for any self respecting family man to bring his family for recreation. All that garbage, gassy oder and dead fish floating belly up in the lake didn't stop the illegals from bringing their ignorant families though. They still don't pay fines or fees but who cares? Take your family to the trash heap for a weekend if you want. The city gets it's money from the natural gas company and the revenue that the fracking crews bring to town. I believe they were thinking of turning that lake into a septic pond for the city sewage. Why not? The Mexicans have already filled it with chitty diapers and taco turds.

I'll just say, that the only reason there were a lot more middle class jobs after WW2 is we built most of the products we buy in the U.S.
Large government is not the answer either. If we got rid of a lot of the governments, people would wake up to how it's all a lie. The immigration problem of no enforcement would end for the most part also.

How do you come to that conclusion? If every American citizen who was capable got a college education, we would have college educated Americans making and delivering pizza, stocking store shelves, driving taxi cabs, tending to pre-schoolers. Wait! Hold the buses! We already do. So, we should expect them to live in poverty too? GFY. You and I are A-OK because we are from different generations than your sons, my son and the grandchldren. Their future concerns me.

Predatory capitalism and crony capitalism must be reigned in or we are lost, and we must encourage newcomers to compete rather than pandering to monopoly control. No consumer will pay less for services or goods in that kind of non-competitive environment, and you know it as well as I do. Foreign labor is cheap, but the quality of what is imported is generally inferior and just as costly for consumers as that which was made in the U.S.A. Worse, it's scheduled to self-destruct in short order and add to the crap accumulating in dumps across America as we are forced to buy the same junk over and over again. Almost none of it can be repaired or renewed.

It doesn't really matter what you think about Obama. What matters is what legislation is being promoted from either side and whether or not either party has anything cookin' that MIGHT make a difference for regular working class (salaried wage earning) Americans. Who has a "plan" that you prefer over Obama's? Who? What is it? See the problem? If you're in the least honest, you don't have much choice if you're really a father of two young man and one child who will one day need the support and compassion Americans have demonstrated they have for each other in times of crisis and vulnerabilty. It's human and humane.

It is much worse than that.I would like to see every go getter just quit. All CEO's,Bankers,Surgeons,Invento rs,and every other productive person there is.Then see if the bloody laborers can run the factories with muscle.Let the incompetent quacks operate on peoples brains.Let the "needy" run the bloody country for a while.Sometime(probably next week)Putin or the Islamites would move in and take over. Why?Because a country with no brains can't defend itself. And a country with no MIND cannot exist in a rational world.
