The Bush administration has in its arsenal one very potent weapon-and one weapon only-which it has repeatedly used: fear ... fear of terrorism, fear of more 9/11-style attacks, fear of nuclear annihilation, fear of our ports being attacked, fear of our ...- and, of course, fear of excessive civil liberties or cumbersome laws jeopardizing our "homeland security."
Executive Order 12333 lets NSA unconstitutionally collect Americans' communications

a former State Department section chief for Internet freedom, took to the Washington Post to warn Americans about illegal surveillance conducted under Executive Order 12333 that “threatens our democracy.” There are, in theory,“built-in protections” against bulk collection of the actual audio portion of Americans’ calls. But bulk collection of phone conversations under Executive Order 12333, issued by President Ronald Reagan in 1981,“contains no such protections for U.S. persons if the collection occurs outside U.S. borders.”

Again, where do you come up with this crap? Right Wingers take one video/audio snippet, and spin it completely out of context to make Obama look like the next Ceasar Chavez. Actually he has a valid point. All the morons in Congress do is 'talk' about the issues. They never do anything about them. They get paid high six-figures and unlimited perks to sit on their butts doing absolutely nothing but 'discussing' what needs to be changed. I do the same thing in my business, as Obama is doing. I don't want my employees telling me what projects they need to get completed. I want them to simply sit down and get them done. My favorite phrase is, "Shut your pie hole and do your job!" Washington needs someone like Obama to start sticking a boot up the butts of these members of Congress, and get them to do what we elected them to get done.
One problem. In my business and in gov't they for for me, NOT the other way around.

Taking charge of your business and giving directions to your employees is much different from Separation of Powers in our Constitution.

I actually listened to what y'all were saying and attempted to provide a peaceful place to converse without the political controversies. It wasn't supposed to be "popular". Just an alternative.
How was I supposed to know that what you all were saying wasn't what you were thinking? Why did that thread get "ghosted"? Who reported it? It wasn't Positronium that got that thread "ghosted". That was Jerkson who done that. You see, Jerkson didn't like it that y'all were visiting my alternative thread and keeping it peaceful so he complained to the moderators that the name of my thread was insulting to POS and that it should be taken down. The moderator didn't take it down. She just made it so only certain people could see it. Jaxxon thought the thread was gone and so he created a new thread hoping to attract those who had frequented the POS thread that he thought he had got banned. The funny thing is, that ghosted thread still exists today. I bet you still have it on your reply tracker.
I don't know anything about all that. You created the thread, and I posted there to support you. I replied to some of your more peaceful posts, something I hadn't really done much of until then. I don't know why your thread was "ghosted" as you call it. I have seen other threads go off the list and was told it was because they were more suited to offbeat so they really didn't belong here.

I watched you post as REWBA for years, and then as Don't Panic. I think I posted to you maybe twice in all that time until right before you created your thread. I think you PM'd me a couple of times, just a quick comment or question. Never did I report you. But I also did not trust you. Sorry, I had to go with my vibes.

Now, I was always fair to you when I did interact. I even checked in on you when you had that trouble at work because of the pay freeze. Your thanks to me was to hurl insults.
Now I see that I was right not to trust you. Yeah yeah, your thread is still there, Fat Alberta, whatever. Nice. You hurt everybody. You're an equal opportunity hater. I suppose it ensures that you've hit the bad guy by bombing everything that moves...or moves you.

The president probably miscalculated how deep the racism was in people like you. He was counting on more conservatives to be better human beings but that was a mistake on his part. Now the entire world knows that conservative America will do just about anything to ensure that a black man not succeed even if the country they profess to love must be destroyed to achieve his failure.
I have to tell you XMan for most conservatives that is just not true. We just do not approve of his policies just as liberals do not approve of the policies of conservative Presidents. There are racists in both parties but the majority of conservatives could care less what color he is. Some black conservatives we support are Colin Powell, Herman Cain, Condi Rice, and Ben Carson. Race is not the issue.

William O.Douglas, US Supreme Court Justice from 1939-1975

Points of Rebellion, 1969, p29

Big Brother in the form of an increasingly powerful government and in an increasingly powerful private sector will pile the records high with reasons why privacy should give way to national security, to law and order, to efficiency of operations, to scientific advancement, and the like. The cause of privacy will be won or lost essentially in legislative halls and in constitutional assemblies. If it is won, this pluralistic society of ours will experience a spiritual renewal. If it is lost we will have written our own prescription for mediocrity and conformity.

The tendency of these mounting invasions of privacy is the creation of a creeping conformity that makes us timid in our thinking at a time when the problems which envelop us demand bold and adventuresome attitudes.

I think we were the highest tax rate for several years if not more. There was a reason companies began to leave this country a few decades back. Remember the outcries of Nike using child labor to make their tennis shoes. Nike is back in the lime light and has been for quite awhile. Isn't their logo back on the NFL jerseys as well as others?

We definitely are in a economic crisis and it ain't over or "improving" by a long shot. Another recession is coming and it just may do us in this time if we do not get our government in check and oust the majority of them. Will that happen? I doubt it as people fear change as the change that has been promised the past 14 years has been lies and we have been going down.

Sure, NADAQ and the DOW Jones may show promise from time to time, but it has been up and down, up and down, up and down. Recovery is not in sight inasmuch as our politicians or wall street claims. We [the American people] are being placated and still, 14 years later nothing has been accomplished by either party and both parties during that time frame had the majority. Bush blamed Clinton and Obama blames Bush. Any one else see this theme going on in government with both parties? I do.

Michael Moore never said it was a sin to be wealthy. If you find a valid story saying he didn't pay his taxes or refused to provide insurance for his crews, or that he was seen carrying a gun around town, let me know.
Have you actually seen any of his documentaries? You seem to misunderstand his views.
I must admit I have only seen small portions of his documentaries. I have no problem where he lives or how rich he may be. My issue is he exhibits the same behavior he claims to abhor.
He despises capitalism but is a jet-setting multimillionaire.
