Ooops. They forgot to account for the DEFAULT rate of uncollected monies and these loans don't make money; they actually cost the taxpayers MORE MONEY.

NEVER believe the government in its claims that something is going to SAVE MONEY.

What's $270,000,000,000 to politicians. It's not their money, it's ours.

Not only do grants and federally insured loans cost tax payers billions each year, but universtities jack up their tuition rates, which makes education cost even more for middle class students who pay their own way.

$279B ??????????

Is that all? A drop in the bucket.

Hell, Shrub spent more than that in one week looking for non-existent, imaginary WMD's.

Murdoch St. Jerkwads have hated it ever since these loans got taken out of the hands of greedy, private bankers. They'll stop at nothing to lie, cheat and steal their business back, no matter what it does to America's students.

Maybe urge your lackeys in the GOPee to vote for the renewal of the loan bill, huh, Rupie? I know you're busy negotiating your latest divorce, but...:)

Actually the program costs taxpayers LESS when run by the government, and of course you have NO evidence that such loans and grants cause "universities to jack up their tuition rates."

Merely the usual partisan hoo-hah...

Spoken like a professor. I'm sure that physicians would claim that ability to pay doesn't influence cost of medical procedures and farmers would claim that subsidies don't influence the price of produce.

How about some proof of your assertion that the program cost less when run by the government.

Yeah ... didn't think that you had any. More baseless opinions by the idiot liberals, who think that their opinions and conjecture amount to facts.

Here's a clue,'tard:

Which gets more money to the students,$200 billion spent DIRECTLY on loans and grants, or $200 billion after 10% is siphoned off the top by private firms before such loans and grants are made?

For extra credit, tell us which of the above most Republicans, including Bush, preferred??
