Obama wants to control guns by giving them to criminals in Mexico, no questions asked. Assault rifle, automatics. You name it. Him and Holder gave all good stuff to them. Yes sir. If you want to know about guns, ask the Fast and Furious crowd what to do. Yessereee Bob. Americans aren't too stupid are they?

It gives me such peace of mind to know that President Obama is in the White House to lead the way this serious issue.

The very same program initiated by the same civil service employees under the Bush Justice Department did the very same thing, watch straw purchasers in Arizona resale weapons.

In Arizona that's not illegal so long as the person purchasing the weapons on the after market isn't a person disallowed by Federal Law from obtaining a weapon in America.

That being said, it's not up to Federal Agents to enforce Mexico's gun laws.

I enjoy my weapons, but I'm all for common sense restrictions on assault weapons that keep those items out of the hands of lunatics and deranged nuts.

There's obviously a huge problem in the country, the same individuals suffering from common mental ailments are committing the same group killing in vulnerable locations.

First I would suggest that if you are serious on this issue to disregard comments like the first three on this thread. They are concerned with the hate or love of President Obama. His part in the issue is to try to lead, essentally the Congress, to set a new policy on the owership and possession of firearms. The issue should be to identify any policies that would lessen the frequency and the death and injuries from crime in general, and mass murder/attempted murder specifically.

Second, forget you oppinions, they may or may not, be based in facts. It is doubtful that any of us have the data and information to formulate a sound policy. I suggest that you begin by reading the Urban Institute report on the Assault Weapon/high capacity magazine ban in the 1990s.(hint, the data suggest it was not effective - marginal at best).

Third, monitor the bills Congress proposes. Usually Congress creates more problems that it solves and and has demonstrated the ability to mismanage the country. Instead of calling people names on Topix write you Congressman and state your point of view.

What does the recent school shooting have to do with gun control? I grew up surrounded my mentally unstable drunken crackers who were heavily armed. Such things did not happen back then. Maybe an individual would get shot once in a blue moon but not this totally random...

Blame Greta and Nancy. They will talk about it endlessly and the shooter gets exactly what he wanted... to be as famous as OJ.

Why not go after the 24-hour cable news networks and leave our guns alone?

In a democracy it is the civic duty of every American to speak the truth about the crooks in the White House. Your attitude would work just fine... in North Korea.

The Guns have always been part of our society and we have always had the mentally ill around. The spree killings where people are randomly... are a more recent phenomenon.

Obviously they have nothing to do with either guns or crazy people.

The real reason Mexico City can not control that nation';s northern frontier? The crooked Obama administration has been smuggling guns for all of the drug cartels down there. They are better armed than the federales.

We are responsible for the crime on their side of the border.

Guns are regulated at the State level. Outside of federally mandated background checks, and issuing dealer's licence, the Federal Government has no regulatory authority over guns in America.

Then the places you are talking about would those are known to be "gun free zones" or those places that have the "no guns allowed" signs posted. Correct.
In other word those who have these mental disorders have an understanding that these places in "military terms" would considered a "soft target".

With all the calls for more gun control after the tragic massacre in Newtown Connecticut at the Sandy Hook Elementary School which resulted in the deaths of 20 children aged 6 to 7 years old and six adults, it is worth noting that the worst school massacre in U.S. history where 45 people died, 38 of them elementary school children and 58 others injured, occurred without one person killed by a gun.

Does that somehow make it ok that Eric Holder and the Obama administration were the ones smuggling guns to Mexican drug lords? When we become the terrorist state...

I don't think people with mental problems should have access to weapons.

I'm even easy on felons having weapons most of them do any way.

Guns neither encourage nor dissuede... these people just want the talking heads in the media to make them immortal... naturally CNN, Fox and MSNBC will give them what they wanted.

If it was ok for the Bush Administration, why would it not have been ok for this Administration?

There was no complaints about Bush's Operation Wide Receiver that lead to the killings of thousands by the Mexican Cartel during the Bush Presidency.

Have the rules somehow been changed?

Gun laws today are less restrictive than gun laws in 1927, right.... and Still through the roaring 20s, street murders were typical all across America, we celebrate murderous folk heroes from that period.

I can't support gun laws that allows assault weapons to constantly fall into the hands of deranged and madd individuals. Common sense has to prevail.

I could support some kind of tracer system that identifies bullets that come from weapons and everybody is responsible for the bullet that came from their individual weapon.
