. It seems Sarah Palin believed Karl Rove had something to do with the IRS targeting Tea Party groups. Karl Rove believed Tea Party groups were supporting inferior candidates, like Todd Akin and Christine O'Donnell, who would eventually lose winnable seats to Democrats.

. It's important to note that most of those folks in charge at the IRS are GOP appointees who've been used in the past to target Obama's Church, the NAACP and other churches which had made political speeches against Republican policies.

. We all know Karl Rove never missed an opportunity to retaliate against his perceived enemies. Here is an example it his pattern:

"American Crossroads boss Karl Rove took a shot at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who on Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference attacked Rove for his reportedly planned involvement in upcoming Republican primaries."

Faux News sstill pumping this fake "scandal" as part of their all-anti-Obama, all-the-time "coverage" of the "news."

I have yet to see any real evidence that the IRS did anything wrong, unless it can be PROVEN that they targeted groups for PURELY political reasons.

Tea Pary = anti=tax = likely tax cheaters

If you don't deserve tax-free status, you shouldn't get it. The IRS was RIGHT to investigate them.

Yeah!

Fox News will never tell you that during the same period Liberal groups had been targeted and punished by IRS Republican appointees.

At least three Democratic-leaning organizations seeking nonprofit status were targeted as well.

. "One of those groups, Emerge America, saw its tax-exempt status denied, forcing it to disclose its donors and pay some taxes. None of the Republican groups have said their applications were rejected."

Lois Lerner, director of the IRS’s Exempt Organizations Division has already admitted that the IRS targeted Conservative groups solely for political reasons, therefore, the IRS DID admit wrongdoing (as Conservative groups have been claiming all along). Lerner, it should be notesd, was also headed the FEC in the late '90s when it targeted the Christian Coalition (wrongly).

Libs believe that TRUE Free Speech is an anathema to their cause. Their response to honest policy disagreement is to punish disagreement - like China and the USSR did with dissidents.

Then you have poor reading comprehension skills or are willfully ignorant. The IRS admitted their wrongdoing.

What evidence do you have that Tea Party groups cheat on taxes?

Selective facts; you lie by omission!

. Lois Lerner is a GOP appointee who's division at the IRS went after NAACP, Obama's Church and other Negroes churches. Why omitting such info?

. Also, while targeting T-party groups, "IRS had its eye on at least three Democratic-leaning organizations seeking nonprofit status.
One of those groups, Emerge America, saw its tax-exempt status denied, forcing it to disclose its donors and pay some taxes. None of the Republican groups have said their applications were rejected."

They're anti-tax, whatever their idiotic party names say. They should have an eye kept on them for sure.

We don't know that any given group is actually eligible for tax-free status, which again means they should be watched and checked out from time to time.

Or do you think they ought to just get a big tax-break from the government because they're Righties?:)

You don't have evidence of ANYTHING until you investigate. And anti-tax parties of questionable tax status should be watched carefully.

Or are you another 'the law only applies to LIBERALS!' type?:)

IF that's true, and you provide no evidence that it is, then there should be punishment for that. But governments have LONG targeted opposition groups, I just hope you'll be consistent and decry government investigation of left-wing groups in the '60s, for example, and any wrongdoing by any future Republican administration....assuming they ever win another Presidential election....LOL

Excellent post...it's certainly true that both parties target the other and that liberals are and have been the targets of Conservative and Republican dirty tricks, investigations, harrassment, and outright witch-hunts.

From the AP:
IRS agents singled out dozens of organizations for additional reviews because they included the words "tea party" or "patriot" in their exemption applications, said Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt groups. In some cases, groups were asked for lists of donors, which violates IRS policy in most cases, she said.

Does that sound like fair enforcement of the tax law to you? The IRS specifically targeted Tea Party groups based on their names. Liberal groups seeking the same tax status were not subject to these tactics.
