Atheist Islamophobia... Again

Apr 9, 2013 Full story: Religion Dispatched 3,766

Sparked by a Richard Dawkins tweet , in which he drew a parallel between Islamists and Nazis, Nathan Lean recently suggested on Salon.com that the most famous representatives of the new atheism "flirt with" Islamophobia [echoing Chris Stedman's prescient warning to fellow atheists on RD this past August]. As the article explains, Dawkins, Hitchens ... (more)

Remember, just because you are paranoid doesn't mean there aren't people actually out to get you. Islamists do want to bring about an islamic world, and atheists are fairly high up on their list of People We Don't Like. I don't think we should all lose sleep over some imagined imminent threat, but it would also be naive not to recognize that fundamentalist islamists are no friends of human liberty and freedom.

Funny thing I read in the article an interesting
fact, they didn't reprint the tweet so we can comment on what he said so here it is, and because you won’t find any breakdown of what Dawkins said in the link which is frankly complete c***(but that’s for another day) allow my to do it for them…

(if everyone is thinking of a different tweet reprint it like I am seeing as none of us can be sure what Religion Dispatched is referring due to the lack of reprint, we may need to help each other just avoid making straw men)
“Of course you can have an opinion about Islam without having read Qur'an. You don't have to read Mein Kampf to have an opinion about nazism.”
First off get Godwin’s law off your chest it does not comment on the validity of the reference to Nazis just that, as time goes on the probability of a comparisonto Nazis increases.
Now the thing I think Dawkins is trying to get at is one does not need to know everything about something nor do you need to know everyone’s thoughts on the subject to reach a valid opinion.
Now that we have some actual content we can now get on with seeing if Dawkins is right on this.

All religious cults should be suspect. islam is following perfectly in the footsteps of its sister cult , christianity. since they worship the same god, that is not surprising.

And superstition (e.g. prophets, word of god, exorcism, child mutilation); divisive tribalism (e.g. Zionism/Islamism); facilitating of violence and even terrorism (after-life reward); often prejudicial against gays, atheists and even women; anti-science (ID/Creationism); harmful to the concept of one-law-for-all (religious courts); anti-secular (clergy in governmental positions due to an established UK church, religiously denominated UK schools); etc, etc.

Nothing new. Atheists are naturally scared of Islam. Not only are they physically scared of Islam but also intellectually.

Nonsense. Islam is just superstition. Mohammed was sent to Earth with the word of Allah? How stupid would someone have to be to take that seriously?

The ignorance of Islamists is legendary and other Abrahamic religionists should note that one cannot undermine one superstition while trying to maintain another.

Religion = superstition
And there are few sillier superstitions than that Mohammed (Police Be Upon Him) was sent to Earth as a messenger from a god.

Islam leads to behaviour like this...

Islam is plainly outdated nonsense. Get over it

Will, pretty stupid if one believes in something without evidence. What's your evidence that the Quran isn't the word of God?

"The ignorance of Islamists is legendary and other Abrahamic religionists should note that one cannot undermine one superstition while trying to maintain another."

And who is doing this?

There is not a dime's worth of difference between fundamentalist christians and fundamentalist muslims! They are both barbaric and devoted to ignorance and superstition and even worse they want to impose their myths on normal educated people! In the UK muslims are actually trying to impose sharia law in some sections of London! They refuse to assimilate and adopt our superior western culture and values. Ever hear of an islamic Bach or Beethoven??

And what makes you "western culture" superior? You might as well join a white supremacists group because you talk exactly like them. if you haven't already that is.

I was responding to what you wrote, quote, "Nothing new. Atheists are naturally scared of Islam. Not only are they physically scared of Islam but also intellectually." which is patent nonsense.

It could be the case, for instance, that you are a Christian but you will understand why your post might naturally be seen to imply a defence of Islam or Abrahamic religions and a criticism of anyone who isn't religiously superstitious. If I'm mistaken about your comment, perhaps you could clarify it and remove its ambiguities?

It's not for me to disprove witches, pixies or prophets. It is for those who profer them to substantiate apparent idiocy.

if you say so but I still believe atheists scared of Islam.

I am a Muslim. I hope that makes it clear enough. I wasn’t defending Islam, it doesn't need my defense. I was just stating my observation. You can disagree with it if you want but I don’t think you would. You know my statement is the truth.

Yeah it is. I can say God exists but you can not say God doesn't exist, at all. If God doesn't exist, than prove it.

What I'm simply saying is that you have no prove that God doesn't exist. Therefor, you can't say God doesn't exists. simple.
