actually most murder victims are blacks killed by other blacks in gang or drug related violence. They don't buy guns legally or from gun shows and they won't be obeying any gun laws
This is not about guns, it is about a "don't let a crisis go to waste" CONTROL.

Do all semi-automatic rifles have pistol grips?
Do all semi-automatic rifles have detachable magazines?
Do all semi-automatic rifles have folding stocks?
Do all semi-automatic rifles have bayonet mounts?
Do all semi-automatic rifles have flash supressors or threaded barrels?
Do all semi-automatic rifles have grenade launcher attachments?
No?
Then not all semi-automatic rifles are NOT the same.
Semi-automatic rifles with those characeristics are more dangerous because they attract a particular type of buyer who is likely to be more dangerous- the pretend military special forces wannabes black ops videogamer losers and nutjob militia conspiracy theorists.
THAT is what makes assualt rifles more dangerous.
Normal people don't buy them.
And "normal" is someone you don't think passes the smell test, right? From which university did you earn your PhD in Psychology?

Assault rifles as defined by the federal govt DO contain at least one or more of those features.
So once again I proved you wrong. Assault rifles ARE different from other semi-automatic rifles.
I'm not afraid of any gun. My only concern are the wackos who want to own certain guns- specifically assualt weapons.
Since we can't ban people, the only other option is to ban the guns those people want.
"Since we can't ban people..."

Sorry, as much as you and your sick commie ilk would like to do that, it's just not possible with 300,000,000 legally obtained firearms preventing you from doing so.

Anything else that you'd like to ban while you're at it?

Of course the difference is other products which can cause death have other valid uses.
An assualt rifle has no valid civilian use which can't be accomplished with a regular semi-automatic rifle. The only reason for civilian use of an assault rifle over a regular semi-automatic rifle in to increase the body count of innocent civilians killed.
Yes, having those illegal silencers and grenade launchers available to "wackos" definitely contributes to that possibility. And let's not discount having a pistol grip and folding stock, yep, that is a sure sign of a "wacko" mentality.

There is no such thing as an assault weapon.
And yet there is a federal definition of what constitutes an assault weapon, and 7 states currently ban assault weapons based on that criteria or their own.

It seems everyone but you knows what an assault weapon is.

Of course you're an idiot, so that's not a big suprise.

Nope, anyone who feels they need an assualt weapon instead of a normal semi-automtic weapon is a potential danger to society and therefore suspect.
In 2004 John Kerry said he owned a Chinese assault rifle yet President Obama wants to make John Kerry, a potential danger to society, Sec of State, one of the most important positions in the US government. What if he argues with Russian president Putin and shoots him with his Chinese assault rifle?

so does a rifle have valid uses. A so called assault weapon is also no more dangerous than any other semi auto rifle. The fact that gun cowards slap a label on the rifles and then demonise them don't make them any more dangerous. A so called assault weapon can't increase the body count any more than a semi auto hunting rifle can. So your ignorance is showing again. And your fear is foolish
Some rifles have valid uses, others don't.

Semi auto rifles won't be banned.
Actually it says you have the right to bear arms. It does NOT say you have a right to own any gun you want.

I agree, not all semi-automatic rifles will be banned, but some may be- such as assualt rifles.

How can the follow sentence be interpreted to mean that people can have as many guns as they want, but not other arms, like nukes that fit in suitcases, or intercontinental ballistic nuclear missiles, or how a sanity check is required?
Amendment II
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
The sentence doesn't mention guns, but it does say "Arms." When you appeal to the 2nd amendment, please provide an explanation of your interpretation.
In US v Cruikshank (1875) SCOTUS said a sawed off shotgun was not protected under the 2nd Amendment because it wasn't arms normally carried by the militia. The fact that sawed off shotguns were used in trench warfare during the First World War apparently was never presented as evidence in the case. Regardless,ICBM and nuclear weapons in suitcases wouldn't be considered arms normally carried by the militia. Wouldn't you agree? In addition, the same court stated that the right to keep and bear arms is not a right given by the constitution and is in no way dependent on that document for its existence. In plainer language, it is an inalienable right that, as Tench Coxe, the father of the 2nd Amendment, stated, is " the birthright of every American". The right pre-existed the constitution and I may add, pre-existed "well regulated militias" and the "free state".

I don't know or care what some liberal thinks or thinks they know. They are lying and cowards. I do know about guns and I know who wrote the definition of an assault weapon. It was Dianne Feinstein. They ask her what her criteria was. And she said she banned the ones that looked scary. Now there is your expert. Yet not a single gun was ever stopped from being sold. Ever. Not one day went by that an AR-15 was for sale. But sheep like you felt better because it didn't have a grande launcher anymore.

it has the same use as any other rifle that fires semi auto. And many people use the AR-15 for their self defence weapon in their homes.

SO you are OK with overturning rights. Got it. What time are you due back at the Kremlin, Comrade?
Leftists like you are a cancer on freedom.
Yes, I favor overtuning some rights, like the right to own a slave, or the right to prevent women from voting, or the right to segregate based on race, etc, etc.

Do you support the right of same-sex couples to marry in the 9 states we currently have? Or would you support that right being overturned?

it also doesn't say you can ban guns. The supreme court has ruled we have an individual right to bear arms

Many of the guns which the potential "assault weapons" bans are targeting are the very guns with which the Korean merchants used to defend themselves during the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Those firearms proved to be extremely useful to the Koreans. The stores whose owners were armed with "assault-style" weapons were left standing while other stores around them were burned to the ground.

Some Koreans formed armed self-defense groups following the 1992 riots. Speaking just prior to the 1993 verdict, Mr. Yong Kim, leader of the Korea Young Adult Team of Los Angeles, which purchased five AK-47s, stated, "We made a mistake last year. This time we won't. I don't know why Koreans are always a special target for African-Americans, but if they are going to attack our community then we are going to pay them back."

Of course, a few million dead allies will appreciate your sticking up for them.
Now take that threat and apply it to US criminal law, specifically what will happen to a rampaging murderer. Do you think such a threat will have any bearing whatsover? Did it stop Maj Hassan?
It has prevented nuclear war with China & Russia & India & Pakistan & all the other nuclear powers; no reason to believe it won't work with Iran or any other state which decides to develop nukes.
