That's right.... Bush's lies couldn't hold a candle to Reagan's. Lies are the hallmark and metric by which all conservate movements measure themselves. Think Bush's whopper about "we know they have WMD, and we know where they are" met the challenge? Nothing compared to Reagan's James Watt's whoppers about how "pollution is good for you".

Every single Teaparty Moron voted for the Bush-Cheney Circus...the clowns who ran the on-going trillion dollar war to disarm the WMD that don't exist, who failed to catch Bin Laden, who de-regulated the mortgage industry causing the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression, even bigger than the Reagan deregulation of the Savings and Loans that caused the Second-Biggest Financial Crisis since the Great Depression. Do America a Favor Tea-party Morons....Shut up, get out of the way, and let the Democrats try to clean up the mess of 8 years of Gross Mis-management of nearly all aspects of Gov't caused by 8 years of Bush-Cheney moronic rule.

HEY 50 CENT...ARE YOU ONE OF THE MORONS who voted Bush-Cheney for 8 years..... the One Trillion dollar war to disarm the non-existent weapons of mass destruction, the mass de-regulation of th mortgate industry leading to the almost second great depression, the brilliant strategy of runing the 4 largest budget deficits of all time (Reagan run the next 3 largest of all time....Clinton ran a surplus). Yes, we should listen to you, old wise one...as your judgement of leaders is unrivaled. Oh, yeah, did you also vote for the moron VP from Alaska who thinks Africa is a country and can't name a single amendment to the constitution, for which she was running for an office to "uphold the constitution"? I thought so....just one more moronic teaparty decision.

First of all his name starts with a "G" your moron, his last name starts with a "B".
Now what mess are you talking about. The mess that started with Bill Clinton? Yes thats where it started. Bush wasnt perfect, but he kept us safe. You liberal peace-nic fucktards would rather sit around and smoke dope and say everything is alright. You are in the wrong part of this state to be talking to much shit. One civil war started here, and it looks like hussein obama and his gorilla wife are trying to start another one. In my lifetime I never thought we would have a president worse than carter, but I was dead wrong. This man has divided this country faster than any president in history. Thank god for our right to bear arms, because if they try to put me in jail for NOT GETTING insurance if I dont want it they will have a hell of a war on their hands.

Wow! Amazing how brainwashed those nutjobs are at being mad at Government, but unable to give a coherent argument as to why? I particularly like when the interviewer asks the protestors for specifics, and they can only reply that they don't know what's in the Bill!

So, what's actually in the Health Care Reform that has now passed. The following is an approximate timeline for when each portion of the Bill kicks in…

Available Now that the Bill has been signed
----------
Tax breaks for Small Businesses – Small businesses can now apply for a tax break up to 35 percent to buy health insurance for their employees.

Children covered till Age 26 - Dependent children will be allowed to remain on their parent’s insurance policy up to age 26 (up from the current 22).

Drug help for Seniors – Reduces costs on prescriptions for seniors going forward, closes ‘donut hole’ in current benefit regulations, and provides a $250 rebate for those who have already hit that ‘donut hole’ in their medicare benefit coverage.

June 21, 2010
----------
Pre-existing condition - individuals who have been unable to obtain coverage because of pre-existing conditions for at least six months will be able to purchase it from special high-risk insurance pools. The pools will be folded into the state insurance exchanges when they take effect in 2014.

September 23, 2010
----------
No more rescissions -You can no longer get dropped from your health insurance when you become sick.

Lifetime limits – Health insurance companies will no longer be able to impose lifetime limits on your health insurance benefits.

Children can no longer be denied coverage due to a Pre-existing condition.

Closing the donut hole - Medicare recipients who have fallen into the coverage gap ("donut hole") in Medicare Part D prescription drug benefits will receive a $250 rebate, the first of a series of gradual closings of the coverage gap phased in through 2020. New insurance policies sold from this date forward must exclude preventive care and screenings from annual deductibles, and insurers will no longer be able to cancel policies except in cases of fraud or set lifetime coverage caps from this point forward.

January 1, 2011
----------
Health insurance Premium payments Reformed – Health insurance companies will be required to spend 80-85% of the health insurance premiums it collects from you and your fellow subscribers on actual medical care, or else they will need to issue refunds.

Medicare patients begin receiving free preventative care.

By 2014
----------
Total ban on the Pre–existing conditions exclusion goes into effect.
End to annual limits on benefits.

The Republican obstructionists want to take away these benefits that are now yours under the law. They want to continue to allow annual caps on care, lifetime maximums on benefits, pre-existing conditions, etc…They’ve also expressed a desire to get rid of Social Security & Medicare, in effect, taking this country backwards into the 19th century. Remember this, especially when considering a Republican incumbent this fall!

Republicans! The party of NO!
NO bipartisanship!
NO civility!
NO ideas!
NO Forward Progress!
NO Truth!
and most importantly,
NO reason to keep these Republican incumbent obstructionists in Congress this fall!

Political debate is healthy for the advancement of our nation. I really enjoy it and I am glad that there are so many that participate. However, the political landscape has become so polarized that some find it necessary to use mean language and name calling. Does that make you feel like you have gained debate points? If that type of debating makes you feel good then I am sorry for you, it must be a miserable existence to be so bitter. I will not participate in it so don't expect a response.

No I do see what you're talking about but you see only tax cuts as the cause for the economic growth in the 1980s. Unfortunately you don't see or understand the role of monetary policy. This is the problem with conservative media information, it only highlights what it wants you to see. If tax cuts were all they are touted to be then the year 1982 should have seen growth since taxes were cut in 1981 yet 1982 turned out to be a major recession. How cut that be if tax cuts fuel growth to the extent Reagan supporters believe. Conservatives can't explain this because then it refutes their tax cuts cure everything belief system. The way to determine the effects of any economic activity is to graph it. Monetary policy is the real reason for the growth of the 1980s. Not only did it eliminate inflation but lowering rates ignited investment and growth. Tax cuts did help, yes, but then so did massive spending on defense. Both tax cuts and spending are stimulative. Anyone who points to the tax cuts as the cause of the economic growth are lieing to themselves or are purposely shortsighted. One of the great things about these forums is the opportunity to learn. I keep an open mind, am a moderate and don't buy into the rhetoric of the left or right. Yes, Reagan spent massive dollars on defense but his inflows failed to match his outflows thus he ran up a massive deficit. By the way, did tax cuts also end inflation?

Reagan ran up a massive deficit during his terms. On 12/31/1980 the national debt was $930 billion and on 12/31/1988 it was $2.684 Trillion. Quite an increase. Yes defense spending was huge and generated thousands of jobs in itself. But if Reagan was a true conservative he would have balanced the budget instead of doubling the national debt for our kids to pay. Instead he held up his right hand and said, tax cuts solve everything while with the left he spent and spent. Americans bought it hook, line and sinker.

By the way I was a soldier all through the 1980s so I'm well aware of the situation. We were not "at war" yet increases were necessary in some cases but like any responsible budget inflows need to match outflows.

W Bush used the same tactic as Reagan, cutting taxes and increasing spending. And like Reagan, W benefited from lowered Fed interest rates, in fact the lowest in history. I'm sure Cheney was the "pusher" of tax cut & spend plan because you may recall his 2002 statement to the Secretary of Treasury Paul O'Neill, "You know, Paul, Reagan proved deficits don't matter". Funny, then a Black man get elected president, they suddenly do matter.
