If Energy is important, why is not an issue in this campaign

If Energy is critical to our economic, social, evironmental and integral to foreign policy why does it get so little coverage. If covered why is the focus continually on sources of Energy that provide so little of our total energy? Who is securing our "industrial Oxygen"?
