<quoted text>As to education, yes, the GOP is against teacher's unions. They are also against schools, children and education. They attack them all. The reason they go after teachers is because teachers teach, an activity they do not approve of. Vouchers?? LOL, yea, let's give a kid a coupon to go to some school somewhere. I bet it's 10 percent off the first months tuition. Tuition is over $3000 per month, so for that family it only cost $2700. Why that is only a mere pittance to someone rich like you.
So, you expect me to believe that a basic education costs more than college? Really?!
Come on, you guys and your spin.
Schools around the DC area report a cost per student to be ~$12,000. That equates to a class of 30 students:$360,000 per classroom per year!!
Yet, the teacher is underpaid?
So for a class size of 450 students =$162 million/year.
So a high school could be getting ~$648 million/year.
For this kind of money you could easily pay for private education and get an education to boot with vouchers. Not coupons as you like to assert. Give me the $12K and let me put my kid in a good school so he can earn a competative salary.
Fire the tenured idiot teachers. Let them see if they will get hired by a real institution of learning.
Private schools would pay better and have ample funds for sports and the arts unlike the bad school administrators we have now.
Hell, head start doesn't work. Take those funds as well!
There are plenty of private schools that are secular now that actually teach rather than coach for state competancy exams and they cost less than $12k/year per student.
You're just mad because the liberal indoctrination would disappear and kids would finally become free thinkers---something liberals hate with a passion.

I oppose education costing that much. That is why I don't want your coupons, because it results in prices that high. The question is why do you want such high prices for education? Oh that's right, you are doing all you can to eliminate education. Only the rich deserve an education.

An education to earn a competitive salary? What education would that be? Not medicine, not engineering. Not English, history, or social studies. Not an MBA. What then. We now have millions with those degrees looking for work. If they get a job at minimum wage, they could never pay back all the money spent on that education, after you get the price high enough.

I have checked out private schools. They don't pay better, they pay worse if you can imagine. Why do they sometimes have apparently better results? Because they get to cherry pick the students. Only accepting the best students means they score the best on tests and outdo the others. When they get a valid cross section of students, they don't do so well.

Students who think for themselves? Liberals love that idea. If that happened all the republicans would go away. There is a reason the liberals support education and the GOP hate it.
Teach rather than coach for NCLB exams? what a good idea. I wonder why the GOP instituted NCLB when they knew it wouldn't work? Any ideas?

Eliminate government indoctrination---not education. Stop spinning, you'll throwup.
We are not hurting for medical positions, engineering or MBAs in my area. As a matter of fact, we have a shortage. As for your liberal arts degrees. Those are blue coller degrees that right now can't prove their worth. Why? Because teachers in those arenas can't even pass simple competancy exams proving they know those subjects which is why unions fight to prevent such exams.

You're spinning again. The reason that these students do better is not the cherry picking. It's that the parents care more for the level of education they get. If they don't get it, they pull their kids and the private school loses funds and close. Also, teachers have authority in a private school to disciplne and keep the riff-raff at bay.

Gotta throw the BS flag here. Libbies HATE the idea of free thinkers because that leads to innovation that leads to entreprenuership that leads to capitalism. Also, free thinking causes one to question authority which leads to questioning dependency on such authority which leads to desiring free governance which leads to freedom from government. Free thinkers understand that freedom comes with responsibility not babay sitting. All things libbies hate.

Huh! Funny how the NEA and Teachers' Union push for prepping to obtain acredidation to ensure government funds keep coming in. Yet, those same teachers fail to see those monies translated into salaries for teachers. Oh, but the adminstrators are happy as larks.

Maybe these people would work harder, and learn more if they really had to have an education. They are protected in Unions with Affirmative Action so they don't have to meet the same standards as others.

Eliminate indoctrination? Yes please. The Texas school books are nothing but indoctrination. They should be destroyed. The whole nation tends to use those books and they are as bad as they can be.

I looked at a junior high math book, written by supposed mathematicians. They didn't even know how to number the pages. The pages would go up to about 25, then start over. These are the kinds of books approved by your right wing fanatics.

You have a shortage? That is impossible to believe. With real unemployment nearing 50% nationwide; with thousands of well-qualified people in all categories hunting daily, why is it they all disagree with you? If they agreed they would be working there. Perhaps you are thinking that if you put out an ad for a medical doctor, with 20 years experience in brain surgery willing to work for minimum wage, must have own tools; and you don't get any responses; that just perhaps there is a shortage, you are wrong.

As to private schools doing better, you do have a point. Cherry picking is one thing used. However they pick those who have parents willing to assist, which makes for better students. Additionally they don't have as many republican based regulations preventing proper discipline in school, allowing for a better environment. The teachers are not better, not higher paid, but results for a small portion look better, overall the result is the same.

Free thinking? That is the domain of liberals. The conservatives are tied to dogma that doesn't work. They repeat only dogma, and lie about the facts to try to make it work in the real world. It never will, but they end up assisting in transferring wealth from the middle class to the rich, so they are useful tools.

As to blaming teacher's unions that is a joke. They have almost no power at all. This is just scapegoating at its worst. I do observe that since you can't counter the point, you instead look for a scapegoat. The republican talking point is to blame teacher's unions, so you fell for it again. What happened to free thinking?

Which only goes to prove what everybody already knows

1. Stauch Republicans love Fox News

2. Staunch Democrats love CNN

3. Independents get their news from two different sources and decide for themselves.

Besides you seem to have forgotten a citation for your 'polling data'

Good catch.

You can vote on each and every poll question on the site. Scientific poll results are accompanied by online polls with the same questions. We also feature online-only polls.

The questions are on line therefore there is no need to post them since the questions are what they are, and do not have inflections to change meaning.

??? Yes, the GOP loves its propaganda channel, but CNN is too right wing for independents. Besides you can't get truthful information from Fox News. How about more than two different sources? And I don't mean different channels reporting on what Rupert wants you to know.

Justice Department under deadline to answer court over Obama's health law comments

The Obama Justice Department has roughly 24 hours to explain to a federal appeals court whether the administration believes judges have the power to overturn federal laws -- in the latest escalation between the two branches of government over the federal health care overhaul.

Obama Instructs Journalists On How To Report His Positions...NO NO NO print what I say to print, not what I do….

FEDERAL APPEALS COURT FIRES BACK AT OBAMA...It’s no wonder Obama is hiding his School Records……..probably F’s.

President tries to walk back threat to 'unelected' justices...Obama gets an “A” in backpeddling.

I'd say that staunch Democrats would go more for MSNBC, while CNN is more centrist, something everyone watches for the latest news updates.

And I'd hope that EVERYONE would get their news from a variety of sources, not just two. JMO, at least.
