Re: Bicycles on Roads

I ride on that road and it can be dangerous. I've almost been hit head on by vehicles passing other vehicles even when I'm riding on the far right. Below are the laws: sadly some cyclists and some motors are arrogant and unwilling to abide by the laws. I think most understand that we must co-exist and that requires courtesy on both our parts.

66-3-705. Riding on roadways and bicycle paths.

A. Every person operating a bicycle upon a roadway shall ride as near to the right side of the roadway as practicable, exercising due care when passing a standing vehicle or one proceeding in the same direction.

B. Persons riding bicycles upon a roadway shall not ride more than two abreast except on paths or parts of roadways set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles.

C. Notwithstanding any provision of this section, no bicycle shall be operated on any roadway in a manner that would create a public safety hazard.

I just read through today's Sound off while half asleep and distracted, but I have to respond to the judge's decision to let all those caterpillars ride bicycles down two-lane roads without school supplies.

If my tax dollars keep getting used to pay for underwear made of East Mesa moth silk for illegal immigrants, I don't want them working in restaurant bathrooms that happen to be dirty.

Next time I see these pregnant caterpillars driving to Santa Fe to save a few cents on gas, you can bet someone's bush will be allowed to grow over the sidewalk and bonk Michael Hays on his bullying noggin.

I totally agree with you. However, the ever changing curriculum, which is outside the teaches' control, the need for all these expensive, non-essential supplies. Sorry.
