71% of Americans support raising the minimum wage. Other than sqauwking points from fux and rusty limbot, still no proof it ever hurt business. Even after flubs signed one in '07.

Any benefit from raising the minimum wage is short lived. The repeated bad effects on the economy are huge. Since the Marxists have increased food stamp allotments 30% and given increased drug availability to millions of newly qualified Medicaid recipients, there has already been a raise in benefits (read wages.) Every time there is a minimum wage increase, small businesses lay off workers and grocery chains persistently raise food costs 100-150%. Since the minimum wage earners are increasingly encouraged to get increased food stamps, it doesn't harm them, but it harms retirees on fixed incomes badly. Those people don't get the raises the 355 pound Black ladies directing the Black youth Obama put out of work to free pharmaceuticals, the main beneficiary of the Marxist Obamacare. Continuing and expanding the number of people on drugs in America is how the Marxist agendas will continue.

Raising wages comes rising costs for EVERYTHING. The head ngr in charge has no idea what this will do to America and doesn't give a fk.
Someone tell this idiot president that America is in a recession and businesses are tired of footing the bill.
This jacka$$ of a poor excuse for a president WANTS to ruin America.

The worst thing about raising minimum wage that high is the domino effect.
You get a job starting at 8 bucks an hour. You do good work and learn more things about the job, and you make it to 9 bucks an hour. You work another year--learn more jobs at the company and now you are making 10 bucks an hour.
Along comes federal government and makes minimum wage 10.10 an hour. Are you going to settle for the fact that after working for a company for a few years, you are now only making minimum wage? Of course not.
People who are currently making ten bucks an hour or near it are going to demand they get raises as well. What choice does their employer have? Pay his employees more money, or they leave and he has to hire new workers with no experience and pay them the new minimum wage.
Agreed.

Also consider that many labor union contracts base their pay scales on the 'no skill' wage -- that being set by the government as the "minimum". Thus when contracts come up for renewal, they increase their wage demands not only on their difference between the minimum, but also on what their contracts garnered them from the last round of negotiations.

I guess that's what liberals call the trickle-up effect.

?? Why would any employer pay some employees more than min wage??? If that worker won't work for min wage, the employer can simply hire someone else. If the CEO gets wind of someone being paid more than min, he will demand the wage be reduced. The CEO knows that if he is paying too high of wages, he will be kicked out of his position and sued for wasting shareholders money. There are millions of people willing to work for any wage. The GOP should be demanding the elimination of min wage, so CEOs can make more money.

That's because you're not supposed to, but that's why you're still making minimum wage - because you're obviously an idiot.

The minimum wage is meant to be a starting point, NOT so loser ghettorats who don't want anything out of life can retire.

Want more money? Get a better job. That's the point stupid.

This is DumBama and the Democrats way of catering to their potential voters. He did so with the ATM and credit cards, he did so with Commie Care, and now he thinks that increasing the wages for 1.2% of working Americans is going to bring them out of poverty?
Democrats have the ability to do a dog and pony show and not accomplish anything at the expense of everybody else.
That's because they know their voter base are a bunch of ignorant ghetto losers that have no motivation whatsoever to better themselves and so they'll believe anything they say.

The problem is they also assume everyone else is just as stupid.

Do you seriously think obama bin lyin' doesn't know EXACTLY what he's doing?

Are you for real? You, and people like you, need to wake up and realize that obastard isn't just a "poor excuse for a president" like jimmied-us carter wasn't just an "innocent country bumpkin who didn't know any better".

These people know exactly what their doing, and they're carrying it out brilliantly on unsuspecting morons who honestly think obastard just "doesn't know what he's doing" like it's an honest mistake or something.

obastard, "progressives", liberals, and all demoKKKrats in general are purposely trying to destroy America from the inside so they can build it back up using the socialist model.

EVERYTHING obastard and the demoKKKrats is INTENTIONAL. Period.

$10 an hour? Why would Obama want to keep minimum wage earners in poverty? To be progressively fair, minimum wage should be at least $30 an hour.
