Trump budget again targets regional water cleanup programs

There are 26 comments on the Powhatan Today story from Feb 12, 2018, titled Trump budget again targets regional water cleanup programs. In it, Powhatan Today reports that:

For a second consecutive year, President Donald Trump is trying to drastically reduce or eliminate federal support of cleanups for iconic U.S. waterways including the Great Lakes and Chesapeake Bay. Trump's proposed 2019 budget for the Environmental Protection Agency released Monday would cut funding by 90 percent for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative - an Obama-era plan for dealing with pervasive pollution in the world's biggest surface freshwater system - and a similar program for Chesapeake Bay, the nation's largest estuary.

The Obama programs were designed to filter government money into Democrat campaign and DNC coffers. The programs were excessive and wasteful of taxpayer money. There had already been remarkable and outstanding progress in cleaning up the polluted waterways mentioned before Obama became President. As he bragged in his first speech after Trump's victory, radical Socialist elements had control of various Federal agencies, thus Democrat voters should not be concerned. The same type of buffoonery is being exercised by some other so-called "progressives"... claiming Cultural Marxism has already won in America. They are in for a very big surprise.

Speaking of mind-numbing stupidity. One would expect wingers to to think the tax cuts caused the surplus ... Correlation does not equal causation!

The levels of federal taxes and federal spending fluctuate from month to month, and it is not unusual for the federal government to run a surplus in January.

Reality check:
It’s fact of life that every business cycle ends; and this one (which started in 2009 when Obama’s stimulus kicked in) has already lasted longer than any other on record, the largest factor sustaining this expansion is winding down, never mind Trump’s fantasies. Four years of rapid job growth have brought the unemployment rate to 4.1 percent—well below the Federal Reserve’s estimate of “full employment,”— so future job creation inevitably will slow down. The record of the last two years on GDP growth, business investment, consumer spending and personal disposable income all show an expansion considerably weaker than the 1990s cycle.

Codetalker is a goddamn idiot! Without clean water our country is nothing. Trump will not make corporations clean up their mess it will be left to tax payers and the rich corporations pay no taxes! Use your heads folks, this scum sucking president just wants to hurt average Americans...wants us to pay for a ridiculous wall that they might have had in the dark ages while he cuts social security (which he promised not to do) and programs that we all need. Wake up America, trump is a thieving criminal. He robs tax payers of millions ever week...Putin taught him how to do it. I know racist love him because he is a racist, at the same time he is a thief and he is stealing from you.

I agree that the recovery from the last recession was slow and weak which was due to Obama's policies and the implementation of Obamacare which added a massive burden to the economy at a time when the economy was only starting to recover. Had the Republicans won in 2008 the recovery would undoubtedly been faster. The fact is most Americans were not as well off in 2017 as they were in 2007. In fact most families were better off in 2000 than they are today.
