On the other hand, converting millions of illegal Hispanic residents into citizens might produce large numbers of new voters who will lean Democratic for years.
As long as the Democrats are giving tax money away it does not matter if the Republicans support amnesty or not. They will never attract the majority of the Latino vote. Their best chance is to back Americans and honest immigrants by blocking amnesty while supporting immigration reform. They need to show that the Democratic Party is hypocritical when it comes to immigration. Of course since the Republican Party is hypocritical on abortion, gay marriage and a host of other issues they may not want to point out the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party.
