Between tax cuts for the rich, war profits for Halliburton, or support for our troops - which does the Bush Administration choose, time and time again?
Bush Administration cuts $1.5 billion from military family housing. The Bush Administration cut $1.5 billion for military family housing, despite Department of Defense statistics showing that in 83,000 barracks and 128,860 family housing units across the country are below standard.("Nothing But Lip Service," Army Times, June 30, 2003; "House Appropriations Committee Approves $59.2 Million for Ft. Hood," U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards Press Release, June 17, 2003)
Bush Republicans support millionaires instead of military veterans. Bush allies in Congress stopped efforts to scale back the tax cut for the nation's millionaires by just five percent - a loss of just $4,780 for the year - in order to restore this funding for military family housing.("The Tax Debate Nobody Hears About," Washington Post, June 17, 2003)
Bush Administration underfunded veterans' health care by $2 billion. The Bush Administration's 2004 budget underfunded veterans' health care by nearly $2 billion.("Vets Health Low on Bush's Priority List," The Hill, September 17, 2003; "Support for Troops Questioned," Washington Post, June 17, 2003; U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs, September 2002)
Bush Administration proposal would end health care benefits for 173,000 veterans. More than 173,000 veterans across the country would be cut off from health care because of Bush Administration proposed budget cuts and its plan requiring enrollment fees and higher out-of-pocket costs.("Support for Troops Questioned," Washington Post, June 17, 2003)
Bush Administration budget cuts force more than 200,000 veterans to wait for health care. Over 200,000 United States veterans have to wait more than six months for a medical visit because of health care shortages.("VA Health Care Funding Alert," Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Press Release, January 31, 2003)
Bush Administration opposed plan to give National Guard and Reserve Members access to health insurance. Despite the war efforts of America's National Guard and Reserve Members, the Bush Administration announced in October 2003 its formal opposition to give the 1.2 million Guard and Reserve members the right to buy health care coverage through the Pentagon's health plan. One out of every five Guard members lacks health insurance.("Bush Opposes Health Plan for National Guard," Gannett News Service, October 23, 2003)
Bush Administration cuts $172 million allotted for educating the children of military personnel. The Bush Administration's 2004 budget cut $172 million of impact aid funding. Impact aid funding assists school districts by making up for lost local tax revenue from tax-exempt property, such as military bases. These education cuts will especially affect school-age children of troops serving in Iraq who reside on military bases.("Support for Troops Questioned," Washington Post, June 17, 2003)
Bush Administration tax cut denies military families increase in child tax credit. The families of 262,000 children of military personnel do not receive the child tax credit increase because the plan fails to cover taxpaying families with incomes between $10,500 and $26,625. According to The Washington Post, the House version of the Bush Administration plan "wouldn't help many of those serving in Iraq." One solider who will not benefit is Army Specialist Shoshana Johnson, the soldier and single mother who was wounded twice in the same convoy as Jessica Lynch.("Ex-POW's Family Accuses Army of Double Standard on Benefit," Washington Post, October 24, 2003; "The New Senate Child Credit Legislation - What It Does and Does Not Do," Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, June 25, 2003; "Whose Child Is Left Behind," Children's Defense Fund, July 23, 2003)

bama’s presidency on the ropes -- again

Just when our NBC/WSJ poll from April showed President Barack Obama bouncing back a bit after the surge of enrollment in the health-care exchanges, then came the crisis in Ukraine. Then the VA hospital controversy. The controversial Bowe Bergdahl release. And now the current instability in Iraq. And they’ve knocked Obama back down to where he was during the HealthCare.Gov woes -- or even worse. Our brand-new NBC/WSJ poll shows Obama’s overall job-approval rating at 41%, a three-point drop from two months ago. His foreign-policy handling has declined to 37%, his all-time low. His fav/unfav numbers are back underwater (41%-45%) after being in the positive territory in April (44%-41%). And perhaps most troubling of all for Obama, 54% of Americans believe that he no longer can lead the country and get the job done for the remainder of his term.“This is a bad poll for President Obama, and not a good poll for anybody else,” said NBC/WSJ co-pollster Bill McInturff (R). Added co-pollster Peter Hart (D):“Whether it’s [Vladimir] Putin, Ukraine, the VA hospitals, Bowe Bergdahl, the events have controlled Obama, rather than Obama having controlled the events,” he said.“He may be winning the issues debate, but he’s losing the political debate, because they don’t see him as a leader.” We’ve seen Obama on the ropes before during his presidency (think after the debt-ceiling fiasco, after the health-care website crash). Can he get off of them one more time? He’s getting awfully close to that “he doesn’t have time to recover” period of the presidency.

More oppose Bergdahl swap than support it

Our NBC/WSJ poll was crafted before the instability in Iraq grabbed headlines, so it doesn’t contain questions on that subject (though we will have Iraq data in a few days). It also was conducted before the United States arrested a suspect in the 2012 attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya. Still, it shows an American public that has grown dissatisfied with President Obama on foreign policy and national-security decisions. In addition to his foreign-policy handling dropped to 37%, Americans -- by a 44%-30% margin -- disagree with the Obama administration’s decision to secure the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in exchange for five imprisoned Taliban fighters. And respondents are evenly divided if the details of Bergdahl’s disappearance from his base in Afghanistan matters in the U.S. decision to secure his release: 47% say the details matter, while 46% say they don’t. The poll also shows that 59% oppose closing the Guantanamo Bay prison for terror suspects, which is up seven points since 2009.

what the nutjobs won't tell you....

Fifty-two percent of Americans say they disapprove of how the president is dealing with the current violence in Iraq (including about a third of Democrats); 37 percent approve.

“I voted for him because he said,‘Give me four more years and I will fix everything,’ but nothing is being fixed,” Michelle Roberts, 34, a Democrat from Salem, Mass., said in a follow-up interview.“I understand he wants to fight terrorism, but send in robots, drones. Don’t send in our troops. Our men and women are dying for what?”

Obama's foreign policy polling is in the crapper because most people don't want another Bush. so when nutjob says 'We need to do more in Iraq!' just ignore them.

Iraq is on the verge of becoming a safe haven for al Qaeda to plot an even bigger and better 9/11 and, if that happens, the border between Syria and Iraq will no longer exist. We are having to negotiate with Iran to help us in Iraq. They want nuclear weapons. There's a tidal wave of immigrant children flooding into our country. And Russia invaded another country.
The IRS "lost" two years of emails pertaining to the targeting of American citizens. The same IRS that will be overseeing ObamaCare.
And guess what was on our president's agenda today?
A game of golf, a fundraiser and signing a pro gay marriage piece of legislation.
Please excuse us if we disparage.
And who let Al Qaeda into Iraq in the first place you insufferable twit? There was no Al Qaeda in Iraq prior to Bush's disastrous invasion. Neither were there suicide bombings, sectarian forced dislocations and the Christian community was protected. Bush turned a secular government into an Islamic Shiite ruled one that is being influenced by Iran.
This whole debacle was entirely predictable. Iran knew that this would happen and that's why they played Bush like a fiddle using Ahmed Chalabi and his band of fabricators with their false claims of WMD that it turns out didn't exist.
Most of these children are fleeing extreme violence and a fear of individual safety in Mexico and Central America’s northern triangle of El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. And there has been an uptick of these child refugees since 2009, long before either the Senate comprehensive immigration bill or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program (a presidential initiative which grants temporary legal presence to some undocumented immigrants) came into public existence.
The current process of dealing with unaccompanied children from countries other than Mexico was set by the Bush administration. Under the law, the Border Patrol agency is required to take in these children, screen and vaccinate them, then turn them over to the Department of Health of Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). The ORR assigns children to shelters until the agency can identify sponsors and once children are placed with sponsors, their cases work their way through the immigration court.
You right wingers certainly have short memories. While Bush was President Russia under Putin sent troops into the Republic of Georgia. What did Bush do? Pretty much nothing!
And once again dimwit, the IRS wasn't targeting anyone; they were doing their jobs in making sure that groups applying for a 501(c)(4) actually met the criteria for that status. The loss of those emails is the result of antiquated systems that have been used for years and limits the amount of data that can be saved. The Bush administration also lost emails for 2005 to 2006 during the controversy over the firings of federal prosecutors. Were the right wingers and Fox pulling their hair out over that? No.
Once again nitwit, the IRS is not overseeing Obamacare; the only thing they want to know is if you have coverage. Period.
Excuse me if I think that you're an idiot.

I see where old John Bonehead is threatening to Sue Obama for taking away his right to say no to everything. This Congress is by far the very worst ever. We could easily be far further along on the road to recovery if they really cared about fellow Americans and were not so power hungry an filled with greed. They have been reduced to a disgusting band of whiney azzed crybabies, not so very unlike those on here..Waa, waa, is their fight song.

Too bad you fail to see how HW Bush, William Jefferson Clinton, and GW Bush all work together to make the world a better place especially true of Bush 41 and Clinton.
I think George HW Bush was a great President. I was mocking the Tea Party's view of him.

GW Bush was a total assh*le that lied & got 4500 soldiers killed in a made up war about oil. He ignored a report on terrorism that could have prevented 9-11. He spent nearly a year of his term in Texas. He cut revenues while going to war. He doubled the debt after starting with a surplus.

Any who things GW Bush made the world a better place is dumber than sh*t.
