IMO, good move by the court.

I find it ironic that Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga who was beaten in Selma in the 60's objects to the court's reasoning that times have changed and that the calculation that treats certain states separately and unequally needs to be revisited. He was once a civil rights activist beaten for fighting for his right to vote and now he's a congressman representing one of the black-balled states.

Texas poll....

Nearly three quarters of voters (74 percent) in the state say personal, private medical decisions about whether to have an abortion should be made by a woman, her family, and her doctor, not by politicians; just 19 percent of voters think government has a right and an obligation to pass restrictions on abortion. Support for a woman’s ability to make decisions on abortion for herself is both broad and deep, including among Independents(76 percent) and Republicans (61 percent).

The Amnesty bill, should be called what it actually is: the American National Suicide Bill.
If you want a preview of life in America, post Amnesty, we already have it.
From CNS News:
The Internal Revenue Service sent 23,994 tax refunds worth a combined $46,378,040 to “unauthorized” alien workers who all used the same address in Atlanta, Ga., in 2011, according to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA).
That was not the only Atlanta address theoretically used by thousands of “unauthorized” alien workers receiving millions in federal tax refunds in 2011.
In fact, according to a TIGTA audit report published last year, four of the top ten addresses to which the IRS sent thousands of tax refunds to “unauthorized” aliens were in Atlanta.
The IRS sent 11,284 refunds worth a combined $2,164,976 to unauthorized alien workers at a second Atlanta address; 3,608 worth $2,691,448 to a third; and 2,386 worth $1,232,943 to a fourth.
Other locations on the IG’s Top Ten list for singular addresses that were theoretically used simultaneously by thousands of unauthorized alien workers, included an address in Oxnard, Calif, where the IRS sent 2,507 refunds worth $10,395,874; an address in Raleigh, North Carolina, where the IRS sent 2,408 refunds worth $7,284,212; an address in Phoenix, Ariz., where the IRS sent 2,047 refunds worth $5,558,608; an address in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., where the IRS sent 1,972 refunds worth $2,256,302; an address in San Jose, Calif., where the IRS sent 1,942 refunds worth $5,091,027; and an address in Arvin, Calif., where the IRS sent 1,846 refunds worth $3,298,877.
ANYONE NOTICE WHAT IS MISSING IN THIS STORY?
There is NOT A WORD ABOUT AN ARREST OR PROSECUTION of anyone involved in this.
The cold hard truth is THE OBAMA REGIME is not interested in enforcing American laws against those who are here illegally now and if Amnesty passes they still won’t be.
The Democrats love to trot out stories of people who were brought here as children or families divided, but what they don’t want to talk about is the MASSIVE CRIME WAVE that comes with illegal immigration.
While we are paying out millions to illegal aliens who are defrauding the system, WHAT IS OBAMA'S IRS WORRIED ABOUT?
They want to make sure that Tea Party groups are harassed and do not get non-profit status.
If the government is not doing anything now to protect us, what makes anyone think anything will be different after Amnesty passes?
What I noticed was missing from the story was any sort of logic or reason on either your's or CNS' part.

Did you stop to think of how those tens of thousands of ALLEGED (yeah, I'm not buying their story for a minute) workers qualified for a refund if they're not paying income taxes?

No, you didn't and CNS is smart enough to know that you're that dumb.

Actually, no, it didn't. If you had read the entire article, you would have read the cause for the housing market collapse:
"...From homebuyers who put nothing down for a loan, to a White House that bragged about record home ownership, to the Democrats who promoted and protected Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."
Democrats bragged about home ownership after forcing banks to give loans to "unqualified" buyers in an overpriced housing market by "promoting and protecting Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac".
Bush bragged about home ownership by helping "qualified" buyers with a down payment.
I clearly pointed out Bush made mistakes too.
But the Federal Reserve is also to blame by "pushing the monetary accelerator to the floor...even as the tax cuts were passing and the economy took off, Greenspan cut the fed funds rate to 1% and kept it there for a year."
Wall Street was more than happy to be a part of it.
But you conveniently overlooked the part about "Democrats promoting and protecting Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac". And you conveniently overlooked the part about the "economy taking off after the Bush tax cuts".
So, basically, you are wrong.
Still trying to blame Freddie and Fannie for the housing meltdown Carol? The fact that you seem to ignore is that they didn't initiate any loans. They did buy subprime loans but another thing you conveniently ignore is that those loans were rated AAA by ratings agencies like Moody's and Standard and Poor's. And who pays these agencies? The same institutions that they're rating. Does anybody but me think there's something wrong with this?
No one was forced to give loans to unqualified buyers liar. Only banks chartered under the FDIC were affected by the CRA and their loans were subject to regular scrutiny by bank examiners. Mortgage lenders like Countrywide and Indy Mac weren't subject to scrutiny and they're the ones who made the toxic loans, bundled them up into mortgage backed securities and sold them before they went bad.
Just who did the economy take off for Carol? The big investors and speculators who were handed a lot of money to gamble with. Not ordinary people. job growth under Bush was pitiful and wages were stagnant.
By the way Carol, Alan Greenspan was one of your fellow Ayn Rand devotees.

Supreme Court decisions means GOP can't outrun culture wars

The Supreme Court is putting congressional Republicans in a bind — again.

A Republican Party eager to talk about what it considers President Barack Obama’s misguided coal policy, rising energy costs, soon-to-double student loan rates and a spate of scandals both foreign and domestic, will be forced instead to spend its last few days in Washington before the July 4 recess caught in the vortex of historic legal decisions on minority voters and the propriety of same-sex marriage.

The GOP can’t seem to outrun the culture wars

In a second term marked by a series of controversies and little legislative success, President Obama’s job approval rating has nonetheless remained fairly steady. Currently, 49% approve of the way Obama is handling his job as president while 43% disapprove.

That is little changed from a month ago, before the NSA surveillance controversy and the revelations that the IRS targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny.
