Are we ever going to have that talk about guns?

There are 1457 comments on the Boston.com story from Oct 26, 2017, titled Are we ever going to have that talk about guns?. In it, Boston.com reports that:

In the days after 58 people were killed and nearly 550 wounded in the worst mass shooting in modern American history, Republicans had a uniform response: an offering of thoughts and prayers to the victims but the admonition that it was simply soon to talk about new gun control measures. Now, 25 days after the Las Vegas shooting, it seems that the time to talk about gun control is never.

It is time to actually prove that guns do not kill people. Other people kill people.
No gun pulls its own trigger, and that is a fact that cannot be disputed. Gun grabbers need to come up with a better strategy if they intend to ban guns. That room in Vegas could have been full of guns, but without the idiot pulling the trigger, we would never have known, would we?

There is constant talk about guns. The problem is not guns, but people. The accurate question is are we ever going to talk about why people are motivated to do stupid things?

Are we ever going to have that talk about crazy people ?
YOU KNOW , THE ONES THAT HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN EVERY SINGLE MASS SHOOTING TO DATE! THESE ARE: SCHIZOPHRENICS, MANIC DEPRESSIVES , BI-POLARS , ASPERGER'S , AND OTHERS WHO ARE OFF THE RAILS DUE TO DRUG USE AND ABUSE . THE MEDICAL PSYCHIATRIC COMMUNITY CAN IDENTIFY THEM .
AS SOON AS THE TALKING BABOONS SHUT UP , WE CAN HAVE A SERIOUS DISCUSSION ABOUT
SOLVING THE REAL PROBLEM .

ALL WRONG!

Every mass "murder" (not just with guns) in the last 40 years had ONE SINGLE THING in common.

They ALL owned "shoes".

Since shoes were the ONE item present in each case then obviously, shoes cause the problem.

In fact 99% of ALL violent crime involves an attacker wearing shoes.

NO!

Shooting victims are killed by bullets.
Guns don't come from the factory with bullets installed. The owner MUST install these "aftermarket" parts separately.

The gun simply aids the bullets in trajectory. A gun is nothing more than a simple piece of metal pipe.

Just as the argument that "shoes" aids the criminal in transportation to and from the crime scene.

Many murderers DON"T use guns or bullets. But the vast majority wear shoes.

How about "real guns"?

What is your favorite gun, caliber, and ammo type?

Feel free to name different combinations for different sports and or circumstances.

One of my "personal favorites" is the S&W .460 magnum.

It will shoot the .45 LC, as well as great hunting cartridges and does pretty good target shooting. Good for self defense in the home due to the great and wide variety of ammo choices. Not so good for conceal carry.

It even shoots the .45 LC shot shells.(For pesky vermin).

Many years ago the U.S. sent the chimpanzee,Ham, into space . Aliens from the planet Moron were amazed . There was a well designed spaceship , spacesuit , and space shoes . The Morons were disappointed because Ham only responded to peanuts and bananas .Even though they were Morons they did not feel threatened by Ham's shoes . To be on the safe side , the Morons contemplated banning shoes . The question was , " Which shoes were the most dangerous ? " There was a vigorous debate concerning buckle and velcro closing shoes , and three, six and eight eyelet laced shoes . The twelve to twenty-four laced eyelet shoes were deemed , "Assault Shoes, "by the Morons . This was because , if they were inserted in either end of your alimentary canal , they would require surgical removal . Ham ,returned with a message from the Morons , " Only the shoeless are welcome , all others will be shot on sight. "

Or we donít give military grade guns to any ole crazy person who wants them.
Weapons of mass destruction are not to protect, they are ONLY to kill...mass amounts of people.

I have never fired a .460, or a .454. I am partial to single action Rugers of all calibers. They just are so smooth. Besides I was raised in the Roy Rodgers, Lone Ranger TV era.'
Lever actions, and single shots, 45/70 are my favorites to shoot.
When i went out west 25 years ago I carried $1200.00 to attempt to purchase a Sharps Shiloh original. Ha! I could not have bought junk for that amount back then.
If I had a goal, it would be to but a Browning 1885 high wall in 45/70, since they act most like the original. I like the guns of history, but too many are out of my price range.
How about a 1895 Winchester in .303 British?

How big a vermin would a .45LC shotshell dispatch?

Just what military grade guns are you talking about?
The military does not and has never used the semi auto AR 15. The military version (full auto) is not available to citizens.
Who gives guns away to people?

Weapons of mass destruction? You mean like a vehicle to plow down innocent victims? Or Maybe fertilizer and diesel fuel?

Please make sense next time instead of repeating liberal propaganda.

Yep. I love these old "western" style guns. Especially the old single shot falling blocks. "Thumpers" may be slow but still pack a wallop.
Too bad the price even on modern reproductions are so high.

I'm not much on the WW I or II bolt actions. The 303 is OK but there are too many other cartridges that mimic the same ballistics, yet easier to find. the .45 LC shot shell is great for rats, snakes ect. I limit them to things less than 5 lbs. But they will sting the often stray dog that comes in the yard without being lethal.

My first real big bore was a single action Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Mag.
I was bitten by the bug. Now I have spent WAY to much over the years on big bore singles.

How many would die under an out of control government if citizens did not have the means to reign in that government?
The EXACT reason the 2nd Amendment was written.

I suspect strongly that we will never be told what was used in Las Vegas. I would suspect military grade machine guns that would be unavailable to the average citizen.
Could an outfit like ISIS supply such weapons? Probably.
Could covert government agencies supply such weapons? Probably.

What happened in LasVegas, the narritive, does not make sense. To me with a limited understanding of that type weapons.

Is a semi automatic weapon a weapon of mass destruction? No.

The shooter could have caused more damage firing slow, aimed, shots than he did firing as fast as he could with a "bump-stock".

Hell, he was a millionaire without a criminal history...he could have bought a belt-fed, pre-1986 machine gun....all it would have taken was money and waiting for the paperwork.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica NO. Weapons of mass destruction, a weapon with the capacity to inflict death and destruction on such a massive scale and so indiscriminately that its very presence in the hands of a hostile power can be considered a grievous threat. Modern weapons of mass destruction are either nuclear, biological,or chemical weapons.

I haven't heard that any of these weapons were found in the rooms in Vegas. As a matter of fact haven't heard a lot of anything lately.
